Whereas the PSP has redefined what is possible in the portable racing genre, a game like Burnout Legends for the DS is a great example of how hardware limitations encourage DS developers to explore innovative gaming experiences. This is what the handheld war boils down to. DS owners didn’t cop Nintendo’s handheld to play Burnout, but just in case you forgot, heed these warnings:
- GameSpot (40/100) - “It’s a failure because it just isn’t an enjoyable racer, regardless of platform and regardless of name.”
- IGN (35/100) - “This should have been on the cutting block the moment the development team realized that the experience couldn’t even come close [to the franchise standard].”
- Modojo (20/100) - ”[It’s] about as appealing as watching Rudolph [the Reindeer] hurl all over the snow…”
