As part of Microsoft's push into the Japanese market, they will release two titles
from Mistwalker, the development studio founded by Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the hugely popular Final Fantasy series. Both Blue Dragon and
Lost Odyssey were on display at the Jump festival, a comics and games
convention held outside Tokyo. IGN only has a writeup of the trailers and photos from the convention floor while
Xboxyde has pictures of both trailers. To ratchet up excitement for the games, Microsoft has already begun airing short television spots in Japan featuring footage from the games and Sakaguchi-san himself. Perhaps so excited by the potential popularity of Mistwalker's games, a third title is rumored to be in development.
With lackluster early adoption of the 360 in Japan, will Mistwalker's contributions be enough to sway the Japanese gaming public?
