On a recent
trip to Redmond to talk with some people about his upcoming
book on the Xbox 360, Dean Takahashi inquired about the shortages plaguing the 360. He writes, "Various folks
tell me it isn't a problem with chip yields," so you can cross that one off the list of potential reasons the Xbox
360 is so hard to find. Curious thing though: CEO Steve Ballmer remarked two weeks ago
that it was in fact the chip yields delaying the rollout. Just saving face? Passing the blame when Takahashi thinks
it's more of a "systems issue"?As for when you should be able to find one, he estimates Microsoft should be able to catch up with demand in January. Good news for those getting an IOU for Christmas.
