As a response to the bug present in the “franchise mode” of Madden ‘06 for the PSP (that causes the console to randomly shut down), EA is offering a long term solution for gamers that don’t feel like working around the problem. They’ve provided an address to send defective copies of the game to, and have promised to send back a bug and cost free replacement.
This announcement could possibly have some financial repercussions for the company, since it’s been reported that the problem is widespread. Could EA be facing a drop in stock price as a result of this move? After all, it’s about as close as you can get to a recall without it actually being one. And as we all know: shareholders don’t like the “R” word. However, it’s likely a lot of gamers won’t take advantage of this replacement offer: just take a look at the placement of the announcement. It’s posted four links deep inside the community forum.
