Dragon Quest VIII's portly
Yangus explores his thieving youth in the rather well-animated side story planned for a Japanese release during the
spring of next year. For a video preview of the game (originally shown at last weekend's Jump Festival), click on the 1000kbps button near the bottom of the site in Japan for it. As you'll most likely be downloading from overseas, it might be best to let the entire file complete playing once--with all its intermittent buffering--before starting the playback again, this time without interruption.
Will being included as part of the Mysterious Dungeon series (in this case, Dragon Quest Shounen Yangus to Fushigi no Dungeon) have any bearing on the viability of an official Western localization? Or is this simply the case of Square-Enix trying to bring more DQ goodness worldwide at long last? And does a spiky-haired Dragonball-like dude make for a good dungeon-crawling hero? (Kame-hame...)
