With wishlists being all the rage these days, sometimes it's nice to just be able to focus on just one gifting goodie at a time. Fortunately, if you know someone who's into watching guys in spandex beat the stuffing out of each other, you've likely found the perfect present to pick up for them this holiday season. WWE Smackdown! vs Raw 2006 appears to have gotten itself a good gathering of positive reviews, and despite the presence of a few minor glitches here and there, the title seems like a worthy buy for those wishing to do a little piledriving while on the move. Here's what some reviewers thought of the game:
GameSpot [8.5] - "Impressively, this version includes basically every single fundamental feature of the PlayStation 2 game, and it suffers no setbacks in control or gameplay whatsoever. So if you never bothered to grab the original game when it hit last month, then the PSP version is just as worth looking at as its console counterpart."
IGN [8.7] - "The teams at THQ and Yuke's Media Creations have done a spectacular job of listening to fans and critics to formulate one of the most feature-packed wrestling games around... especially on a PSP. Be it presentational, gameplay, customization options, or the excellent ad hoc support, almost everything in SmackDown vs. RAW 2006 is a step up from most other wrestling games out there."
Gamespy [4 out of 5] - "For the most part, Yuke's effort is a success. WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2006 is a damn-near literal translation of the PlayStation 2 game, but truncated to a handheld. However, there's a fatal flaw that comes with the fidelity to source material, and it's completely crippling. The load times are horrifically long."
