Zelda: Twilight Princess can play on Revolution controller
According to UK based NGC Magazine, the upcoming Zelda: Twilight Princess for the GameCube will be
playable on Nintendo's Revolution console using the new controller. The magazine also confirms a November 2006 release
for the next-gen system as speculated. From the article: "NGC can exclusively reveal that Twilight Princess will be playable on the forthcoming Revolution using the upcoming console’s unique controller. Zelda will actually ‘bring in’ the Revolution by launching fairly close to the new system, which is set to be released around November of next year, according to our sources."
The game is still scheduled for a spring 2006 release on the GameCube.

and 1/2 hour after I mention this in the Kingdom Hearts 2 thread, it goes up. Jolly good, now the world will know!
Tom @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:22PM
I think Nintendo may be able to have download "mods" that allow other Gamecube games to be played in new ways with the new Rev controller. Brilliant way to bring new life to old games.
Rhine @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:22PM
Some sites have had it for a few hours so far but if this is true I believe the Gamecube is dead for this generation as people can just wait for the Revolution and play it.
Spence @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:33PM
Sooo long away, I hope Europe, Stateside and Eastside all get it before Christmas 2006 at the very least with a good lineup.
vidGuy @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:34PM
As expected... I just hope the game is still released this spring. It would be good to be able to beat it on the GC then dust it off when the Rev is released.
Tsunami @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:36PM
Either way, Zelda: Twilight Princess got pushed back to Q3 or Q4 of this year. Read Game Informer.
Tsunami @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:38PM
Next year, rather. 2006. Mind's ahead of itself.
Rare Hare @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:40PM
kinda lame.. i was sort of hoping that TP would come out sooner rather than later and that it would be a sort of farewell game for this gen.. but if it's coming out that close to the rev and will have rev controller functionality, i feel like i'll have to immediately pick up a rev with it to get the full experience.
n3rrd @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:44PM
I work at an EB Games in Canada, and we recently checked our release list for the GameCube. The launch date for The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess is now listed as November 2nd, 2006. I was hoping it was a glitch in the system...
Chiablo @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:51PM
If that's why they delayed it, then Nintendo really is putting all of their eggs in one basket. But at least that basket is compatabile with the new revolution system. ^_^
Eric @ Dec 22nd 2005 1:57PM
This is brilliant for Ninty; it's the next best thing to actually having a Revolution-specific Zelda title available at the system launch.
GlitchCog @ Dec 22nd 2005 2:09PM
"NGC can exclusively reveal that Twilight Princess will be playable on the forthcoming Revolution using the upcoming consoles unique controller."
That's still an ambiguous statement. Just because you can control Link using the Revolution controller doesn't imply that they'll take advantage of the new methods of control. That picture they Photoshopped is completely misleading if this doesn't turn out to be the case. The Revolution is backwards compatible with GameCube games. They will be short changing GameCube owners if they add features or methods of control that can only be done with the new controller, and I don't think they'll be doing that based on the previous official Nintendo statements. Still, you'll be able to play the game on the Revolution even if there are no Revolution controller exclusive controls, which is what I think is being said here by Nintendo and being spun by 4 color rebellion.
Kye @ Dec 22nd 2005 2:18PM
Maybe its because im not american...
but how can spring be fairly close to November?!
Still, bring it on! I pre-ordered Zelda on Play.com back in March! And will be buying a Revo at lauch (first system i'll ever be buying at launch). They'll have to invent new words for how im going to feel cuz "sweeeeeet" just won't cut it anymore.
Finally, waving my arms angrily at the TV will help me beat a game *tear rolls down his cheek*
I love Nintendo!

#10: This seems like a magazine got an exclusive scoop from Nintendo. Why would Nintendo give a mag an exclusive scoop that's so misleading? Nintendo obviously stated this because they are implementing some sort of special gameplay available to those who play it on the Revolution. It wouldn't make any sense for Nintendo to release this information as a scoop to if it's only simply going to be playable on the revolution using the controller, without any unique features.
Jay @ Dec 22nd 2005 2:44PM
this is going to be the greatest game ever.
leojsoap @ Dec 22nd 2005 3:05PM
a yearlong rollback, this should be pretty damn good for the time they've put into it, I'll probably just pick it up with the revo. and skip the gamecube experience altogether.
man, I don't wanna wait a year though the gamecube's running dry lately as it is.

Sure, GC owners may feel 'short changed' by not having features. But it's not the first time a Zelda game has done something similar. Just on a smaller scale--Gameboy.
The legend of Zelda DX was made for the original Gameboy, and if you played it in a GB Colour you got the colour, as well as a new dungeon.
Oracle of Ages/Seasons for GBC had extra items in it if you played it on a GB Advance.
Nintendo couldn't do this with console games before, because they weren't backwards compatible like the gameboys are. It's different now.
Besides, Gamecube owners are the most likely to buy a Revolution, so it's not that big of a deal. Revolution will be an inexpensive system to buy. While he may not be directly controlling the development of this game, Zelda is Miyamoto's baby. He will ensure that the Revolution additions are top-notch.
Simon @ Dec 22nd 2005 3:20PM
WOO! I own a 'Cube and have every intention of getting a Revolution, so this is great news for me. Just wish we could get a few solid release dates though.
No.2: That would be so cool it would hurt.
Wayne Parkin @ Dec 22nd 2005 3:20PM
I think It's great but until Nintendo officially announce this.........
syco @ Dec 22nd 2005 3:32PM
I honestly do not care how long it takes them to finish TP. I have such obscenely high expectations for the game now that any extra time they can spend polishing it is time well spent as far as I'm concerned. I'm expecting an epic on the scale of Ocarina of Time or A Link to the Past here.
Not that I didn't completely love and admire Wind Waker, but you can very much tell where there were supposed to be more dungeons, one instance involving the backside of your home island comes to mind in particular. That was SUPPOSED to be a dungeon, but I guess they just didn't have time to do it. I want none of that nonsense this time around.
Blue boy @ Dec 22nd 2005 3:45PM
I can't wait for this, what better way to play the Revolution for the first time than Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Blizz419 @ Dec 22nd 2005 3:55PM
by the way , there is no official launch date yet this is not proof of one, and to who mentioned it being released in Q3 OR Q4 that is quarter 3 or 4 of the fiscal year which is different than our calender year
Wayne Parkin @ Dec 22nd 2005 4:17PM
How about Mario 128, wonder what's so special about it. It's been in development since before they even started Sunshine. They've avoided showing it at several E3s since they didn't want ideas being stolen.
Can't wait for Twilight Princess though, Revolution additions or not.
Bowser @ Dec 22nd 2005 4:23PM
Ok, here's my theory - I think that Zelda:TP will be moved to the Revolution as a launch title. Think about it - Zelda for the GC isn't really a system-seller. But, having a new Zelda title at launch for the Revolution is huge - it would be an enormous system-seller. It would be like Microsoft releasing the XB360 with Halo 3 at launch, or Sony releasing the PS3 with Final Fantasy 13 at launch.
Revolution + Zelda + Smash Bros FTW.
jACK @ Dec 22nd 2005 4:59PM
Interesting, the article states, "when you insert the disc into your Revolution, you'll be given the option to use the Revolution's controller, with all the advantages that this will bring."
Lewigi @ Dec 22nd 2005 6:09PM
Some of you may also remember that these people were the first to anounce Resident Evil DS.
But... when the announced it, they said it would be the same view as resi 4 (over the shoulder) rather than the security camera type view it actualy is.
BlackYoshi @ Dec 22nd 2005 6:43PM
Ugh, so now there is nothing left to look forward to on the Gamecube. By the time this game comes out, it might as well be a Revolution game. I'll probably play it with a regular controller. The Revolution controller stuff will probably be more of a bonus than completely changing the game.
mike @ Dec 22nd 2005 8:26PM
"Some sites have had it for a few hours so far but if this is true I believe the Gamecube is dead for this generation as people can just wait for the Revolution and play it"
interesting theory.. if the GC's dead, what's the XBOX.. cuz GC's selling more.. and NIntendo actually made a nice profit.. whereas the XBOX division is a bottomless pit
skibble @ Dec 23rd 2005 1:05AM
I certainly hope the fact that Link is left-handed doesn't ?weirden the gameplay somehow. Damned nonconformists!
itsamemario @ Dec 23rd 2005 6:10AM
If they're going to push it back that far, why not just make it a Revolution launch title? If it's coming out the same month? This sounds fishy.
mike @ Dec 23rd 2005 6:58AM
They will be short changing GameCube owners if they add features or methods of control that can only be done with the new controller, and I don't think they'll be doing that based on the previous official Nintendo statements.
---
NO THEY WON'T!!
Why?? The GC doesn't have the new controller..and you're saying.. GC owners are being ripped off because they're playing the game on a 4 year old system?!
Dude.. get your head checked.. Adding playability with the new controller is a GOOD THING.. for people who don't have a gamecube.. for gamecube owners, they're getting a great game.. one that they might long to play on a Revolution.. which can be had for around $199
There is nothing BAD about this story.. except.. um.. the Rev has more features than the GC. Duh!!
Tredanse @ Dec 23rd 2005 8:00PM
I confess myself... disappointed.
Well, kinda. I was just hoping that there'd be Zelda in the first half of 2006, and that'd be all well and good, best game ever and all that. And then we'd get Revolution in late 2006. I was hoping for them to be seperate experiences. I wanted to have my Zelda fill without the distraction of a new console.
revo4life @ Dec 24th 2005 5:05AM
"why is zelda coming out on gcube but not on rev" i'll tell you why. if it were coming out on rev people will imediately think the graphics on rev are crap and all these stupid rumors spread about and the console will already have a bad image.
tony @ Dec 27th 2005 1:59PM
To poster #26, they actually said they'd HOPE Resi on the DS would have Resi 4 mechanics, they never said it would.
And I trust this magazine, I've subscribed to them for six years. If this were just a rumour, they'd say so.
