Introversion, the creator of two classic indie games (Uplink and Darwinia) have announced that they're working on a third game, entitled DEFCON. The game will be a multiplayer strategy game that pits two players against each other in a game of "Global Thermonuclear War". The subject of nuclear warfare has been an underlying theme in many games, but in recent video game history there hasn't been a game completely devoted to the subject. We're hoping that DEFCON will also include a healthy dosage (no more than 200 REMs) of satire. As the film WarGames taught us about nuclear war, "the outcome is always the same, there is no winner". Although that wouldn't be very fun in a video game now, would it?

It may not be a recent game but Nuclear War on the Amiga was one of the coolest games ever. I loved playing as Ronald Raygun, Ghandi or Thatcher. To much fun memories. I hope they use this game as inspiration and go the humor route rather than the serious route.
