If
development continues apace (and an "ecommerce
reseller" is found), PC, Mac, and Linux gamers will be treated to a procedurally-generated freeride
snowboarding game starring a real-life professional boarder... and the usual
alien sidekick. What makes Stoked Rider even better (besides the cel-shading) is its small 20-30MB size, perfect for downloading, as the game's AGEIA-physics-supported terrain is procedurally-generated. Extensive mod tools have been promised, and online multiplayer and sharing of mountains, tracks, and high scores are planned after launch.
Downhill devotees have a couple of big snowboarding series to choose from on the console side -- such as SSX and the ever-polarizing Amped -- but PC gamers have usually been faced with slim pickings. Here's hoping niche genres (like freeride snowboarding) can find a viable consumer outlet via digital distribution.
