What about the news last month that Rockstar was going to stay away from devloping for Next-gen consoles for a while, and devloping two new titles for the PSP?

Could it be that they are deciding to take a new direction. They being Rockstar Leeds.

I really shouldn't be posting this (it's off topic anyway), but based on recent video footage, R* North's next game is going to be "Manpuncher Versus Boxhead", a collaboration with First Person Shooters Productions, a Glaswegian film studio. You heard it here first, folks. It's satirical, apparently.

Being from the drug infested island of Puerto Rico, where there is about 20 murders daily; which no one knows about because we are not a state and we are not in the ranks. I think the best setting for a gta game would be here, En La Isla De La Muerte(island of death) in the present year 2005. Forget London that place is not half as messed up as the 787. plus so many different cultural backgrounds here and music the game could never be boring.

Though I personally am sceptical with regards to this rumour, I do expect the next GTA to contain some kind of London inspired setting. It's really the only place that makes sense.

Places like Seattle, Detroit, Atlanta et al just aren't gonna be fresh enough or interesting enough in their own right to sustain the big time, super critical GTAIV. Lets not forget that Rockstar north is a UK co and the guys that pull all the strings (the Housers) are Londoners...

London would be great it has everything you'd need, it's massive and filled with all kinds of gangs (Triads, Cockneys, Yardies, Ruskies etce). It'll be great. Oh and anyone who says that GTA is totally "American" centric just has'nt been paying attention...

I call shenanigans! Especially as Rockstar North is not in Glasgow, it's in Edinburgh. Anyone from either two cities will know how important a distinction that is! ;)

I don't know why this is such a big deal to you people. The first 3D game was a remake of the first birds-eye GTA game. Vice city was it's own thing and SA is only an improvement. The games get better, and better every time they come out.

Look at each game that comes out, each one is better.

I think GTA london wud b a gud call, considerin its made by the help of the british Rockstar and tryin to blend in such films as Lock Stock, Snatch, Layer Cake and the likes of Green Street would make for a good game. Theyve covered nearly every good city now in USA and they have released a London version before on the 2d format. So give this a chance it will be a gr8 game no doubts. GTA Dellaware r GTA London hmmm I know what sounds better to me! :)

My thoughts exactly JVC!

It's ridiculous to think that a British company is going to set its game in some obscure location like Atlanta when there are great cities like London or Hong Kong and the like.

As you say theres endless films about crime in London from organised in the Likes of Long Good Friday to small time grimey like Nil by Mouth not to mention stuff like I.D, great stuff, what big film was ever set in Atlanta?!? I wonder why..?

Anyway, I can't wait to hear some more solid info (E3 I expect, sadly) Look out for it for us eh Joystiq...?

Sup ery'body, my thoughts of next GTA, i think it will be called GTA4 as it is now. And i have no doubt its a sequel to GTA3. I dont think they would make it in London. Cuz The Getaway 3 is dere, ofcuz all of you know. And why would they risk it of making it in the same place. Its for sure it will be in Europe, thats what Houser said. Dont believe all the rumors you hear, Rock*, may just want to hype us up.

They never reveal their info on GTA's way to early. Like San Andreas, they only post it up pictures and trailer in August, 3 mothns before release. Since they're at Scotland, it might be in Scotland or something close to it. Did any of you saw Getaway 3 trailer, damn it was awesome, the graphics, and AI.

Anyways dont wait for it, it will come. Oh yes, the next GTA for psp is coming somewhere when GTA4 will come out or later. My suspicion is it will be GTA Vice City(stories) or what happened after Tommy V. Rockstar you're the best. When ill get my skills. Im applying for an opening job they have. Ill know ery'thing about it.

I hope this rumor is fake. GTA has to be played in an American city. The American culture is a big part of the game in my opinion.

Considering the power of the PS3 and also the ammount of content you can fit on a blue ray disc, this is what i think rockstar should do:

First off work on the multiplayer dimension of the game that they just barely tapped in San Andreas. Imagine an entire rockstar world based on all of the games, with a massive multiplayer aspect kind of like the Matrix Online. (I've heard that the cell design of the processor will allow the PS3 to link up to other PS3s and combine processing power, if this is true it would definately make huge multiplayer worlds a reality)

Second, instead of just providing a new city(s) to play around in they should include all of the cities they already made.

Third, I'm not sure if this is right, but I think that Metal Gear Solid 4 will come with VR/3D goggles. It would be freakin awesome to play any GTA in 3D, but imagine doing it in high definition, and being able to fly across a huge virtual world where you could possibly meet up with real friends to try and take over a town. Maybe even with the possibility of taking over other's businesses or stealing their money....>>>>>>> no cheats though!!!!

Maybe its just wishful thinking, but if rockstar isn't gonna do it then someone give me some money and i'll try my hand at it. PEACE

"San Andreas is a fake city and it was Vice City, not Miami."

Posted at 6:34PM on Dec 27th 2005 by LaughingTarget

San Andreas is NOT a fake city, vice city maybe, but not san andreas. It might be different in the game from real life, but San andreas still exists.

Like most here I'm pretty dubious.

I would, however, be chuffed if this turns out to have had even the slightest shred of credence. London's an eminently suitable location of inspiration for GTAIV (anyone who disagrees is more than welcome to come and get themselves an education at my gtaforums topic here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=160361&st=0 :wink, wink: )

'97 would be great period for a 'London' set installment as it's contemporary enough to have seen the multi-cultural/ethnic transformation of the city and all the problems that an influx of new criminals brings; it is also recent enough to have seen regeneration of areas like the docklands, complete with towering skyscrapers; plus you've got a rich seam of London gangster films coming out around that period.

Also: that was the height of the London junglist/drum and bass scene, so I'd be able to tear up the town with "Original Nuttah" tumpin' out of my sound system...oh boy, you don't know!

(Personally I'd like a multi-era/multi-generational look at the evolving 'London' city and its underworld for GTA IV but '97 would do me just fine..)

If this were correct of course...

This is to all the people who want London as the next GTA site: keep on dreaming! to preserve the tradition that is GTA, it must continue on AMERICAN SOIL! for example, Washington, D.C. is a great city...Detroit is another city that could be used. Maybe if R* put London in as a city for a set of missions, then that would be different, but it shouldnt be based in London.

Tally ho and Good day!

What about setting the next one in 1930's depression/ mobster era? Imagine mobsters running moonshine, wacking people with tommy guns, etc. The only thing that would kinda suck would be the music I guess.

it would be AMAZING having a london based GTA and it only makes sense due to the order of the original games!!! i think a lot of americans are making a fuss because its not going to be their country in the spotlight which is always the case with americans.

Ok, lets get some things straight. For a start Vice City is purely a nod in the direction of Miami Vide, as seen with the teaming up of Tommy Vercetti and Lance Vance, which was an homage to the shows main characters Crockett and Tubbs. Also, in San Andreas there are a couple of references to a "midwestern industrial city" which would be refering to Detroit. its on WCTR I think although I doubt Rockstar would use Detroit/Chicago as they have used Carcer City in Manhunt, so I suspect they would be reluctant to cross-over too much. And yes, the cities in the first Grand Theft Auto were Liberty City, Vice City and san Andreas, followed by the London expansion pack, so i doubt it takes much of a leap to envisage Rockstar revisiting and improving upon this. However, since they just announced that they were to be releasing Liberty city Stories on the PS2 after its success on the PSP i would expect that due to time scale the next true sequal will undoubtedly be available on the PS3, followed by the X-Box 360 and PC. maybe they will revisit some of the old themes which saw you working for rastas, and maybe see the next game in Jamaica, or maybe Cuba, the potential for great quality scenarios in those countries is pretty astounding! And finally, I agree with 29, it would be nice to have some kind of walkman/discman/i-pod available to allow music whilst travelling on foot, or at least whilst pedalling along on the old BMX!

The point of "Liberty, Vice, SA then London" has been made, which is the first reason this is the case.

Secondly...all the runways in SA are number 69, the date of the GTA London game. Also, there is a shop in SA with three clocks. One says Los Santos, one says Liberty City, one says London. Ill link to a picture of that soon.

London...

To me, it looks like Rockstar is just trying to roll out as many cities as they can. I think this is a pretty poor attempt at attracting hardcore gamers: Sooner or later, someone's going to get sick of this.
