We always have these crazy sales after Christmas here in the UK. A lot this year even started before Christmas, or even on Christmas day!

The XIII is nice for 98p! I think I'll have to get me that one. Gameplay.co.uk have a sale on with a few nice ones. Splinter Cell Collectors Edition for the PC, £2.99 and Forza for the XBox at £7.99. Free postage too!

Crazy sales? You must be joking.. I went into town today, NOTHING, absolutely nothing was reduced apart from debenhams.. where middle aged middle classed people go to dress, as far as games are concerned high street retailers are ripping people senseless, £29.99 for a DS game in a GAME shop, guess i'll put up with Mario Kart DS another week for that cheque to cash.

Yet on amazon you can get it for a fiver less, save the £4.40 it cost me to get the bus into town today (10 miles) and only have to wait 3 days..

If only everyone knew how to the t'internet.. yeah Gameplay.com is the best place typically for games, they even beat amazon in my books, you can choose your packaging, and it's all free. Respect to amazon as well though, they're more on the ball this year than last.

Yesterday I managed to buy, from GAME in Edinburgh, the following:

Brand new XBox

King Kong

Forza Motorsport

Sonic Heroes (These three games were part of the bundle, there was no choice given)

Halo

Halo 2 (+ map pack + two month's Live trial)

Second controller...

for £99.98. Which I think was quite cheap! Everywhere in the UK is selling Halo 2 for less than £15 right now. Another bargain I saw (but have yet to buy) was City Of Villains for £9.99 in Gamestation. For once the sales seem pretty good for gamers.

What bugs me hugely about trying to buy games in the UK is the completely random chance you have of finding the game you like, in any number of stores. Searched Edinburgh today - could I find a copy of PGR2? Could I hell. PGR and PGR3 were everywhere, but the second was nowhere to be found. Ended up ordering for £9.99 from play.com - another very cheap online store for games.

What's up with all this "Post-Christmas" terminology?

It's called Boxing Day sales, n00b, they do it EVERY FREAKIN' YEAR.

GAME had the new Prince of Persia for 15. And quite a few others but I was only in town for Amped 3 and my nice new shiny Sun faceplate!

GAME just slap the same prices as usual on items during the sale, just in bigger letters and on brighter, larger stickers. They'll sell (or try to sell) battered, second-hand copies of ancient games for the same price as you can buy them new on Amazon and won't ever, *ever* reduce them. My local GAME has had a tattered copy of Mario Vs. Donkey Kong for an entire year, priced at £24.99. Nobody will ever buy it. GAME sucks.
