I wouldnt know if it was or not. I mean,I got my console on launch day, problem was is that I had a hardware failure (3 red lights),returned my PREMIUM and recieved a core console back. 1 month,10 calls to MS,talking to 3 supervisors, and 1 fax to a supervisor containing my reciept later I still don't have my harddrive. It's now today with still no harddrive,so i've wasted about a month and a week with my cripple 360 sitting there.

Thank you Microsoft for your great service. It's starting to get hard to walk with the ass raping you're supplying,it's extremely appreciated.

I'm very satisfied. My console works perfectly, runs very cool, and the games are good. I'm a little bummed that Oblivion didn't make launch, but I'd rather it be finished than rushed, so I'll deal with it.

I have to wonder about the people who had "defective" consoles. Are they putting them on audio receivers that heat up? Are the placing them in enclosed spaces? Are they using them on the floor? Are they burying the power brick?

All I know is mine's great. Thanks MS.

My friend bought an Xbox 360 and NFS:Most Wanted. I've been playing the game on my faily speedy PC for a few weeks, but seeing it in HD Widescreen was quite a treat.

We were pretty disappointed in Project Gothan Racing 3, but overall I think the system is pretty awesome, just needs more games.

Also, Geometry Wars makes me wish more 2D games were developed for any sytem.

OTAM, your the first that i've heard that has had a bad time with MS and their tech support. I have heard of several people that have reported their 360 to MS, got a box the next day, shipped out, fixed, and back within a week.

And if anyone wants great customer service, don't go to apple, they are the freakin worst.

I can't get enough of the XBOX 360. The launch lineup has been unbelievable, the LIVE integration is seemless, and I haven't had this much fun during the launch of a console since the NES. Sony has their work cut out for them.

Can't say yet. Haven't got mine yet. My gamestop where I preordered is saying I'll get mine in march. :(

The console may be a success but as far as getting them into gamers hands, its been a failure. I was very hyped about the system but I'm beginning to cool down. Unfortunatetly, I'm still not that excited for the PS3 yet so this last month or so has just really been a bust for me personally. I'm sure the people out there who got theirs have better opinions, (except maybe the first poster).

Throw in XBL Arcade and there's a ton of great games to choose from.

Had you asked the question before I got the 360, I'd given you a "this launch is a complete disaster" answer in a heartbeat.

But I did manage to get my hands on a 360 before Christmas, and not from scalpers either, so I'm not quite as cranky any more.

I'm not completely overwhelmed by the games, yet, probably because I don't have HDTV, but the new level of integration with XBL is overwhelming. It's amazing how seamless the live experience is. It just works (tm).

I'm a complete Hexic addict, btw. Curse the people, who decided to put it on the hard drive for free.

Well OTAM, I hope you get your problem resolved soon (I'm sick of reading your same story in every 360 post lol). As far as me, I'm still playing it every day and am loving it. Several of my buddies have finally got one so it's great playing online with games from PD0, Joust, Smash TV, PGR3, etc. The launch was a success in my eyes and I'm happy with the games I've played so far (PD0, PGR3, NBA 2K6, Kameo) and especially the arcade (Joust, Geometry Wars, Smash TV, Hexic, Mutant Storm). For 06 I look forward to DOA4, Burnout, Halo 3, Gears of War and of course the Revolution and PS3!

I like mine alot, and while some people look at the visuals here and say its not next gen, the visuals don't just decide what is next gen. The fact that I can talk to a friend on live who is playing PGR3 while I'm popping heads in PDZ is next gen. The connectivity of the 360 to everything is what makes it so next gen. The graphics are good, but it's the evolution in how you play with friends that is the huge difference. That is what Sony is missing.

And don't think I'm just a fanboy, because I will be buying a PS3 too, if for nothing more than a 1080p Blu Ray player and Final Fantasy.

The only thing wrong with the 360 is that mine broke on the 22nd and the holidays are slowing down my return time.

I have no complaints. I got mine on launch day and have been in gaming bliss since. I don't even have a HDTV (yet) and I'm impressed with the system. The on-line gaming is something that really shows the system's strength. As for the launch titles, I got Perfect Dark Zero, Call of Duty 2, Kameo, Madden 2006 and Project Gotham Racing 3. I love them all! I have not had any problems what-so-ever and feel bad for those who have had problems. I just keep my 360 on a flat surface with at least 6 inches all around open and apply that same standard with the power 'brick'. Works like a charm.

To me, the launch was a success and the console has a bright future ahead. If it can round up even more 3rd party support with more emphasis on RPG games, it will be a great success.

As far as Revo and PS3 go, I'm definitely getting the Revo. I don't know about the PS3 yet because of the 'price'.

When I look at the stats of both systems and then see other people talking about 'not being that impressed' with it (360), they can only expect the same from the PS3 so they should get used to be 'un-impressed' from now on...

I got my 360 last week and I can say that I'm very happy and impressed with the system. I was worried by all the doom and gloom that everyone had posted about regarding their system. But mine runs cool with no problems. But then again, I don't have my system enclosed...not to mention my power supply on carpet. Other then that, some of the launch titles are really good (call of duty 2, condemed), but I think it's too early to see games that really utilize the power of the 360. But then again, you saw that with all new consoles (xbox, ps2)...it takes time to develop games you know. Overall, I'm very pleased.

From my experience, the 360 launch was amazingly successful. After waiting 25 hours in line at Wal-Mart, I got the premium pack & 4 games. I've gotten 2 more games since.

The games are excellent. Sure, there wasn't a "killer app" at launch, but all the games I have are great. CoD2, PGR3, NFS: MW, Condemned, Kameo, PDZero... all are excellent. I haven't had this much fun on a console in a while.

The new Xbox Live is perfect, so far. The integration into the games, awesome mulitplayer, Achievements, gamercards, rankings... it all works so well.

The next few months are going to be amazing, with many new games being released. I can't wait!

I got an Xbox 360 on release day and have been nothing but amazed. It blew away my expectations. The problems that it had were blown way out of proportion (3% defect rate is typical for any new product). The games released so far have been okay, but I know that they'll only get better over time. The intuitive guide menus, downloadable games (which both me and my wife love), movie trailers, music & pictures streaming, etc. have all been major bonuses as well. Who needs an Xbox 360 Mod? Microsoft has done all the modding me (or any other average non-addicted has-a-real-life gamer) needs. The Xbox 360 will rule the video games world for the next 5 years.

I have an HD tv available but only play in 480p cause the cable box is hooked up to the HD tv but still looks great.

Like Pirillo says, it is like crack. Very addicting. The Live service and the Live arcade is a wonderful killer app.

Once devs start taking advantage of the system and don't put out crap products (*cough* Madden *cough* EA), then things are going to get really, really, good.

Oh, and people complaining about an HD drive. It doesn't need one, and if you want to watch HD movies, you can anyway because you can stream them. That's what M$ is trying to do from a business model. Media Center PC streams HD content to your 360 to your TV.

I've been having a ton of fun with my Xbox 360 since launch day. IMO, it's an excellent console. The Live Integration and Xbox Live Arcade portions are outstanding and seamless. Everything just "works". The games might be a little bit of a let down, but I'm having a ton of fun with Perfect Dark Zero and NBA 2K6. Just picked up Jade Empire as well since it plays on the 360.

Also, I agree with the person who said something about being addicted to Hexic HD. That game is insanely addicting....along with Bejeweled 2 and Geometry Wars, which I purchased as well.

So far, so good. And the 360 is just going to get better....especially when DOA4 and Oblivion are released coming soon.

Hey guys,

I'm new at posting, but I'm always reading all the blogs and posts here daily. Thought I'd finally throw in my 2 cents worth. I was lucky enough to ge my hands on an Xbox 360 at a local retailer before Christmas (with some friendly help and some inside connections). Anyway, bottom line is I'm very happy with it. No problems at all. I've got mine hooked up to my HDTV and it's amazing!!! I've only got Madden '06 thus far, but I have played a few other games. My opinion: the launch was a "semi-success." Those who wanted it bad enough (and also had some inside help) were probably able to get their hands on one. Those who weren't lucky enough to get one yet seem bitter. Those who have it hooked up to an HDTV probably love it. Those who aren't impressed with the graphics probably have it hooked up with the traditinal composite a/v jacks. The amount of games will increase over time as well as the quality of the games themselves. To those of you who, for whatever reason, are unhappy with the Xbox 360 launch, I have but 1 word for you: patience.

I was extremely satisfied with the 360 launch. I particularly enjoyed Condemned, Perfect Dark Zero, NFS:MW, and PGR3. COD2 and Kameo were also decent. Ridge Racer 6 and Madden 06 were the only two launch games that I played that I thought were underwhelming.

Anybody who tries to say the launch games lacked, seriously has not followed console launches in the past. People forget that the PS2 launch lineup was poor and that the N64 launch lineup consisted of ONLY 2 games. While it lacked the 1 killer game, the 360 launch was very solid on the whole - and had the biggest number of title available in the history of launches. Also, the games are a decent step forward - especially when viewed in HDTV.

But, the launch means very little as to whether the console will be a success... just look at the Dreamcast, which arguable had the best launch ever, or the PS2, which had a lackluster launch. The Dreamcast ended up a failure, whereas the PS2 ended up being the best console seller of all time. It's the games that come (or don't come) after the launch that really make or break a system.

I honestly wouldn't have bought one. I was looking forward to it however. I ended up winning one from Mountain Dew. I was unimpressed by the games and the lack of backward compatibility. I do like having the wireless controller and remote. I've been contemplating selling it since they are in such high demand, simply for the money. The thing keeping me from doing that is that I do feel the system has potential. If they worked out all of the kinks that should have been worked out before launch and start adding some compelling games to their library, then I would regret having sold it. I find myself playing my PS2 and even my Gamecube more than the 360 simply because of the game selection. I've been spending most time on Dragon Quest VIII.

I guess I'm looking for a reason to keep it, but I'm having trouble trying to find one.

Well, I got a premium xbox 360 and all I can say is WOW! I believe I am playing it the way it was meant to be played, via a 42 inch plasma and this thing rocks. Anyone saying this is xbox 1.5 has never seen this thing on a widescreen HDTV. I'm not online yet, but I'm sure once I am, it will take things to a whole new level again.

I think the launch was a success. There was more holiday buzz about this than anything else. If they continue this through 06 it should be a good year.

Being a mac guy, I thought I'd never say this...nice work MS (though the system does use a derivative of the powerPC g5 chip that runs my powermac), I am excited to see where this thing is headed in the next 12 months.

The Xbox360 in the U.S., a major success considering those gamers out there who still want one might have to wait up to spring to get one. In Japan, the 360 is major flop! The 360 can be successful in Japan, Microsoft needs to come out with exclusive games that appeal to Japanese interests. We'll have to wait and see how much of a success the 360 is when the PS3 and Revolution come out.

i'm more than happy about my 360. i only planned on buying Kameo and a few arcade games like Gauntlet and Geometry Wars, but i've now bought 6 games for it. i'm having so much fun online and meeting new people all the time. i'm no fan of FPS and racing games, but when they're online and you're just fucking around with friends they're much more fun. PDZ blows in single player mode but it's like 10x as much fun online once you take the time to figure out how deep it goes. it's not something you could catch in just a few hours of playing. there's the different functions of all the weapons and knowing when and where to use them, and then things like Darkops and what not. i've played with people from all over the world, including japan, and i've played with quite a few gays and women, which was a surprise to me. some of the in-game conversations get to be hilarious.

now it's waiting time until the RPGs start rolling in. yay FFXI demo in january and oblivion in feb/march or whatever.

overall, i can honestly say that in almost one month of owning the system, i've had more actual fun playing this than i had with all of the last generation combined. (but i didn't have XBL on the last generation, and possibly excluding mariokart DD) that's not to say the titles are better than all of those titles from the last generation, but the whole community aspect enhances the games in a way which isn't easily possible to convey in a review. similar to actually getting into games like WoW.

What impressed me most is how non-gamers are impressed by the system's interface and graphics. The only disappointment for me was that Halo 3 did not launch with the console. Got my Xbox 360 with a little luck, for anyone waiting until Feb/March for preordered systems I say cancel and get your money back better to wait and catch one at a best buy, or other retails that did not take so many preorders, no need to let the preorders hold your money, anyone who wont give you a full refund, you can simply sue ;) I too had a hard time getting my hands on one retailers are not benign good to Xbox 360 customers.

Now as far as my Xbox 360 itself, I am happy with it, no tech problems it runs warm but no worse than a laptop. I got 3 games Madden 06, NBA Live 06, and Call of Duty 2. I am a big Halo 2 fan so I have also done Halo 2 on it as well. I am not using a HDTV, just a standard 48’ Project tv that I have had forever. All 3 xbox 360 games look great, the NBA Live is the best looking game I have ever seen.

Madden took a sometime to get use to, they changed the perspective, its more up-close before the snap of the ball took some getting use to, and you can press a button on the controller to zoom out, game play itself is about the same as the old madden’s but this is a good thing, (don’t fix what’s not broken). But during game play itself be ready to get called for roughing the passer even if he trips over his own man, also anytime the ball comes out of the QB’s hand it’s a fumble no suck thing as a incomplete pass when a defensive player his hitting the QB and the ball comes out. Now the good news is that the officials make these bad calls for either team, so what can kill you with a ball call on play can save you the next. But still please fix this with a patch or something. The game is still fun to play, and looks great, and while it does have a franchise mode it is kinda stipped down and you can tell. On a scale of 1 – 10 (1 bad 10 prefect) Graphics 8, Game Play 7(only so low because of bad score) features 6. Over all that’s a 7

NBA live 06, I don’t get a basketball game every year, more of a pure football, and FPS kind of person. NBA Live looks like nothing I have ever seen before in video game, hands down this game is beautiful, during fee throws you can actually see sweet rolling off the players. Game play took some time for me a few more buttons than I remember needing last time, lay-up and jump shot two different buttons (Don’t confuse them, not a good idea to make a lay-up from 3-point range). Now one cool feature is while the game loads you can play around in a open gym shooting around kinda cool. But no franchise mode only season, and free throws well they need a gym I can practice them in, only gotten 1 out of maybe 100 try’s (well maybe not 100, but you get the idea), Game play other than the free throws is nice so I give it an 8, Graphics 9.5(only because there is always room for improvement) features 6 only because I don’t really miss franchise but others might. So that’s a 7.8.

Call of Duty is my 3rd game, it looks good, and plays good, its not Halo 2 its WW II, the feel during the game is that any second you are about to die, I have never been in combat, but I am guessing this is what its like(well as close as one can get with out risking life and limb) Graphics 8.5, Game Play 8.5, features 7 (have not really dove into its features) over all an 8.

The Xbox 360 itself, I like it the wireless controllers feel prefect, don’t have any disconnected feeling like one might of with older wireless controllers, you can turn the system on and off with the controllers if your fav game is in the tray no need to get off the sofa ;). I do want to see support for a keyboard/mouse and some RTS games for the 360 and I cant wait for Halo 3, you can also apply skins to your 360 Dashboard looks nice, also you can download demos of upcoming games, I hope more publishers release demo’s like this. Now one bad thing is this, while your downloading something you cant do anything else, Need for Speed demo was a gig, so I could not play a game offline while that downloaded come on MS that is just silly. Also 20 gig HD when Demo’s are a gig apiece does not seem large enough, although I do have half a terabyte in my server so maybe I will just have to learn how to delete stuff. Over all I am happy with my 360 purchase, even though I shelled out close to 1000 between system and games and accessories. Now I can only hope that better more feature rich games come out and the graphics get even better.

Okay I got my XBOX 360 in Iraq at the local Base Exchange. They had to draw names just to see who could purchase one because they only had 11 in stock. Luckily I got one, bought Call of Duty 2, and PDZ.

Call of Duty 2 is great, I liked it a lot. PDZ is okay. But the system is a great piece of Hardware. I like streaming my Ipod and rocking out to some System of a Down while playing Call of Duty 2.

Overall right now, it is so-so. Probably due to the fact that I have been playing games for awhile (not to mention the poor launch lineup and my lack of an HDTV), a new console like this doesn't excite me. The only time I remember being extremely excited was when I first picked up my Sega Dreamcast. Since then, gaming just hasn't been the same. It's almost like I've gotten over the initial high, and now I am just feeding an addiction just to stay normal.

I got my 360 on launch day and I love it. I'm still waiting for my pre-order which seems that it may get here the same day that Duke Nukem Forever launches.

I'm not overwhelmed by the games, but, I had the same feeling with the first Xbox (except for Halo) and all other consoles before it. I am blown away by the additional features though. I love the Media Center Extender and the new Live interface is outstanding. Once the developers start rolling out the quality games, I think that a lot of the nay sayers will have a second opinion.

A lot of people talk about the Revolution, and, while it has potential, I think that the biggest "innovation" needs to be in the games not the hardware. Even if the Revolution puts butter on my toast in the morning, it's all about what the game developers do with the system that will make it fly or sink.

I'm very impressed. This is coming from a closet Nintendo fanboy. I fell victim to the marketing of HD. I picked up a HDTV and 5.1 surround sound just for this system. It was all worth it.

I was very satisfied. I know that as time passes, the games that will be coming out will be a lot more polished than what is already out. I have especially loved COD2 and NFSMW.

Zero problems, it works great. I'm thankful for the backwards compatibility and live.

LOL - i'm too busy playing my perfectly working xbox 360 to respond to silly made up posts.

I just saw someone playing Call of Duty on X360 in the store... nothing too interesting about the graphics. In fact, the GC images of the new Zelda game put those graphics to shame. I'd say the 'xbox 360 is 5 times more powerful' rhetoric should be put to bed.

I'm unimpressed by the Xbox 360. Played it, and walked away unsatisfied, with no feeling of anything memorable or even any fun.

CrAzY American:

Apple support bad? Are you ffing nuts? My ibook died and they fixed it out of warranty then to make me feel better they sent me a free 190$ CDN isight camera and free 1 year .MAC account.

Im thinking I got treated pretty darn good. You must have been a ass hat to Apple and then got treated like you deserved.

Also my XBOX has been running flawless except for this rental of Quake 4 which seems to freeze periodically. I have played PDZ and NFSMW without issue and Halo1 and Halo2 with no troubles but Quake 4 appears to have some major bugs in the game.

After playing it in the stores, I was completely unimpressed. Then to launch less than half of the Nirth American demand in time for the holidays while send a quarter-million more overseas to (mostly) indifferent markets is unconscionable. I would serve MS right if the rest of the dedicated gamers abandoned their aspirations for the X360 and settled in for PS3's arrival. It will not only be a vastly superior console, but BLU RAY as well. With that kind of competition on the horizon, I say the MS totally blew it.
