Here at Joystiq, we love comparing the size of different things.
Ignoring for a moment the deep-seated psychological trauma behind it all, we've found this image which takes PS3 and
Revolution mockups and compares them to the Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, slimline PS2 and Gamecube. Whew. Hit the 'Read' link
for the full image. It looks a fairly realistic mock-up, with the Revolution winning "tiniest console by far" award, stealing the crown from the slimline PS2. However, if the Revolution really will be that small, we can't help but wonder how large the power supply will be in comparison.
[UPDATE: 4 color rebellion point out that the picture of the Revolution is misleading, as the CDROM wouldn't actually fit. They've fixed the scaling here.]

I thought the slim ps2's were small at about the size of a small book, but the revolution looks really really small.
If they can get some decent graphics and games on that thing it should be really interesting.

PC Engine was small by comparison to other consoles, but adding the CD unit, PC Engine Duo, then it's no longer as dimunitive.

The PS3 won't be melting the Revolution...because it won't ever be on! I already estimate from the past...the Sony equipment will be the least used in my house...again.

And I speak from experience. I'm a proud new 360 owner and I think my home has actually had the side without the 360 go up in the air a little.

That would explain why I have seen hundreds of pictures with air vents. Im mostlikely a Nintendo Fanboy. I have only a gameecube and a DS from this gen, and all the gameboys. But it just makes me angry to see some people being so ignorant. Im not saying the PS3 wont get larger or change but there are plenty of pics that show vents.

to the dude that says you've seen the PS3 with air vents, post link for some proof. I haven't seen any, I have the OPM that displays it in every angle so please shed some light on that for us.

The "japinese" didn't shun the xbox because it was huge, they shunned it because they are xenophobic.
Oh, and also the 360 sucks.

Hmm, I was under the impression that the PS3 would be bigger than that. At least I thought it would be bigger. Size doesn't matter really, or so I've been told...

- Y-eah, pretty and shiny. Great means of measurement there. I'm still skeptical, show me some actual gameplay footage on a running system, THEN I may have something to get excited about for the PS3.

ps3:fridge
rev:simply beautiful(u cannot top this console design-not to mention the rev accepts small discs and large disk sumthing that the mac cannot do)
i think bill gates is trying to hatch an evil scheme hes turning everything non-pc into pc. what next? microsoft TV's which has the capabilities of a computer?

The 360 is a tad disappointing
Having an open mind, I've played a few games at kiosks in various stores and I have this to say...
I feel like sad for everyone who bought one for these for the so-called improvement in graphics! You call this next gen? Ive seen more evolution happen to small tropical plants overnight! Its robbery, robbery i tell ya! Id rather have my balls eaten by wild...

Please refrain from posting anymore until you get a clue and/or a brain. My wife, who is Japanese and married to an American in America, would love to hear about how xenophobic she is, as would all her friends.
"tiniest console by far still belongs to the PC Engine."
The PC Engine was small, but I'm not sure it's smaller than the Revolution. Just for the record, here's the PC Engine: http://musepat.club.fr/pceng_1.jpg
The gamepad is about the size as any gamepad, so you can use it as a point of reference.
The Genesis 3 *may* be smaller. It's tough to tell in pics because the Genesis 3's controller is also smaller than most. I'd have to see them side by side.
Oddly enough, the Turbo Grafx 16, which is just the US version of the PC Engine, is much bigger - likely just filled with a bunch of air. It's also black, whereas the PC Engine is white. You can make your own judgements about these design choices on the part of NEC America.

Sorry about that, back to the topic at hand...
The revo is gona look so cool being that size.
PS3 - in the kitchen taking the fat out of your meals.
360 - Next to the tv maybe. In a cupboard maybe.
Revo - Centre-piece.
Sidenote - got a DS. loving it. cant stop playing nintendogs.
Last thing - Jeff #24:
Not blazing, just stating my opinion so dont blow ur top, or anyone elses for that matter.
I assume he was speaking of the Japanese who actually live in Japan... maybe?
Xenophobic might not have been the best word to use; but they are very patriotic and would rather buy things that are made home rather than abroad. Come on now, I don't know how it is in the US but over here in England its rare to see a Japanese person driving a car that is not Japanese (just an example)

what is all this about 'aaaah revolution is so nice and tiny' its what the machine can do.
if its small enough to be portable, where would you find the space to wave the controller around in your car or on a train? so the small size is a gimick
talk about rubbish designs, the xbox 360 looks old and unfashionable. the ps3 and revolution look nice.

If the revo is so small, and you can use a portable power source, and a set-top screen becomes available, and ninty said they have another big secret, then it must be that the revo is actually the new gameboy! Remember who said it first!
You control it by waving the whole damned console about, lol.
Also think about this - many people have a PS2 in their car - I'd love to see someone pimp their ride with a PS3... "whats that? I need an engine upgrade for the extra weight?! And a generator to power it!!??"
sometimes you gotta make yourself laugh.
Goodnyt all

Right now it looks like the DVD drive barely fits in and theres still slots for the GC controllers and Mem cards on the top plus the motherboard CPU, GPU and cooling

BTW, the Japanese are nationalistic, there was nothing that MS could do to make them buy 360's.

the second link ain't working for me. But from the first, I guess you can say it's a vent.
and about style? i don't fancy the rev too much. the 360 and the ps3 are alot more stylish even for their mammoth size. but I'm sure you guys also thought the N64 was beautiful too.
