Wow, the revolution is tiny.

I thought the slim ps2's were small at about the size of a small book, but the revolution looks really really small.

If they can get some decent graphics and games on that thing it should be really interesting.

DS is not a regular console. It's a portable. If you want to compare portable sizes, why not mention the Gameboy Micro?

PC Engine was small by comparison to other consoles, but adding the CD unit, PC Engine Duo, then it's no longer as dimunitive.

It's a good thing the Revolution is that small. The 360 and the PS2 will take up enough space. This way, I can fit all 3 on the same shelf! The Xbox ruined this plan last time.

The PS3 won't be melting the Revolution...because it won't ever be on! I already estimate from the past...the Sony equipment will be the least used in my house...again.

And I speak from experience. I'm a proud new 360 owner and I think my home has actually had the side without the 360 go up in the air a little.

That would explain why I have seen hundreds of pictures with air vents. Im mostlikely a Nintendo Fanboy. I have only a gameecube and a DS from this gen, and all the gameboys. But it just makes me angry to see some people being so ignorant. Im not saying the PS3 wont get larger or change but there are plenty of pics that show vents.

Please refrain from posting anymore until you get a clue and/or a brain. My wife, who is Japanese and married to an American in America, would love to hear about how xenophobic she is, as would all her friends.

"tiniest console by far still belongs to the PC Engine."

The PC Engine was small, but I'm not sure it's smaller than the Revolution. Just for the record, here's the PC Engine: http://musepat.club.fr/pceng_1.jpg

The gamepad is about the size as any gamepad, so you can use it as a point of reference.

The Genesis 3 *may* be smaller. It's tough to tell in pics because the Genesis 3's controller is also smaller than most. I'd have to see them side by side.

Oddly enough, the Turbo Grafx 16, which is just the US version of the PC Engine, is much bigger - likely just filled with a bunch of air. It's also black, whereas the PC Engine is white. You can make your own judgements about these design choices on the part of NEC America.

The revo is gona look so cool being that size.

PS3 - in the kitchen taking the fat out of your meals.

360 - Next to the tv maybe. In a cupboard maybe.

Revo - Centre-piece.

Sidenote - got a DS. loving it. cant stop playing nintendogs.

Last thing - Jeff #24:

Not blazing, just stating my opinion so dont blow ur top, or anyone elses for that matter.

I assume he was speaking of the Japanese who actually live in Japan... maybe?

Xenophobic might not have been the best word to use; but they are very patriotic and would rather buy things that are made home rather than abroad. Come on now, I don't know how it is in the US but over here in England its rare to see a Japanese person driving a car that is not Japanese (just an example)

if its small enough to be portable, where would you find the space to wave the controller around in your car or on a train? so the small size is a gimick

If the revo is so small, and you can use a portable power source, and a set-top screen becomes available, and ninty said they have another big secret, then it must be that the revo is actually the new gameboy! Remember who said it first!

You control it by waving the whole damned console about, lol.

Also think about this - many people have a PS2 in their car - I'd love to see someone pimp their ride with a PS3... "whats that? I need an engine upgrade for the extra weight?! And a generator to power it!!??"

If you think those few vents are enough for the PS3, you probably have a few screws loose. The dev PS3 literally melted while being 10x the size of the mockup. Yes, it's a mockup and not a final production size and/or shape. Unless it's in the final form which I highly doubt it is, you can use it as a heater better than the Xbox 360.

BTW, the Japanese are nationalistic, there was nothing that MS could do to make them buy 360's.

All I can is if Sony is going for form over function, they had better pay some serious attention to Xbox's overheating problems [ahem,attn.Ken!]-they DO get scary hot. The exhaust plenum on my 360 is as big as a cow's ass and still blows uncomfortably hot [not unlike a woman's blow drier at low speed]Forget the stories about the red lights of death,by the time you see that the damage is already done. If MS had any balls, they would provide to every purchaser of the 360 some type of external fan which could be directed into the intake to augment the already dicy air exchange ratio. Just something to tip it over into the safe zone. As much as I love the 360 I still feel uneasy with it-I think this heat thing is going to cause more problems in time.I also speak from experience; I just took the daughters back last week because it fried. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my two-bits.

I agree with Josh. This comparison is not convincing a all. When comparing the size of the DVD drives, the PS3 has by far the largest slot. This leads me to believe it should be smaller than shown here. Also the console looked similar in size to the first PS2 when Kutaragi held it up at E3.

This is for 'recklessgemini'. The PlayStation 3 does infact have some air vents, however they are only on the right side (if laying down) or the top (if in verticle position). Also I would like to say to everyone, awesome speculation and all that stuff on next gen consoles, it's all very fun to read but maybe if you actually used correct spelling and had your facts better intact, then maybe people might take you more seriously, instead of arguing with you.

I actually have no desire to buy yet another system simply for kick ass graphics capabilities. My PSP has spent most of it's on time playing emulated Mario Bros 3. A 360 and Rev will do all that I care for without the need to hack them. I bet Microsoft and Nintendo do very well this round.
