Japan only: Xbox 360 Tetris
One of the games that may have slipped under the radar for the Xbox 360 is Tetris: The Grand Master Ace. The game was a Japanese launch title and is currently not available in
North America. That's not to stop the game from being a nice little puzzle that's gotten a good import user review via
GameSpot. From the review: "Tetris: The Grand Master Ace is a great
little game, with a nicely thought out online mode, which encourages having fun with others even if your not playing
versus. Trying to unlock the achievements add to the addictiveness of a game which already was very hard to put
down."Combine the classic gameplay of Tetris with Xbox Live? I'm in. Now if we can only get a US port.
[Thanks, Sajith]

Tetris Worlds for the original Xbox?

Please bring Tetris to the US! As one of the Xbox 360's biggest fans, I have to admit my disappointment with their lack of family/party (read: wife-friendly) games. Some of the arcade games are a start, but adding Tetris to the lineup would help out a lot. How about a really cool HD version, with Geometry Wars type explosions when you get a line? My wife would hate the 360 a lot less if it had Tetris...

Be careful what you guys say, this is a user review, not GameSpot themselves.

Whoohoo, and where are all those people that said 360 didn't have any great titles?
Where are they now?!! Huh?!

"Combine the classic gameplay of Tetris "
Yeah, but *is* it the classic gameplay of Tetris?
The past few Tetris iterations have changed the gameplay so significantly that it's taken all the challenge out of it. The one thing they've added that's the bane of most real Tetris afficianados is that you can rotate a game piece forever once it gets to the bottom row before it sets. You couldn't do this in the original game; it basically gives you as much time as you want to get it right.
Does this game play like old Tetris or new Tetris?

One of the best games available on the PSP is a tetris clone.
William @ Dec 31st 2005 2:54PM
Screw you Sony fanboys, forget MGS4 and the next GTA, we got mofo TETRIS!!! ONline!!!

ME WANT ON DS! This version of Tetris would best suit the DS with it's new online gameplay. Now all we need is another ploy where Tetris would be packed in with the DS where like Gameboy was.
kingmanor @ Dec 31st 2005 3:18PM
can't they just make this downloadable thru Live like geometry wars? do you really need to buy this in a box in a store?
Greg2k @ Dec 31st 2005 3:31PM
Puyo Pop Fever Revolution plz. THAT would kick ass
Jago @ Dec 31st 2005 3:41PM

I'd really like it if they could make this an Xbox Live Arcade game rather than a full XBox 360 game for the US. I mean, isn't that what XBox Live Arcade is for? Unless the game is over 600MB, I think it could be done, although they would still need to make a trial version and scale the achievement points from 1000 to 200. The cost to distribute the game would be alot less and the end user could probably pay about 1200 Microsoft Points (15 dollars) for the game. I'd buy it at that price. However, if they do release it in the US, they would most likely release it as a full game, considering that they would only need to region code and repackage the game to rerelease it, unless the game is in Japanese.
Necrophiliac @ Dec 31st 2005 7:36PM
does anyone know if this is region locked or can i import it?
chuck @ Jan 1st 2006 5:09AM
The title looks like Grand Master AGE. not ace.
beaker @ Jan 1st 2006 7:42AM
Microsoft is leaving money on the table for not releasing this immediately in the States. I mean, why not? It needs to be a ramped up, very difficult version so that the Leaderboards mean something.
All LiveArcade games need to be set at GW difficulty, with steady and quick progression to Almost Impossible. God, I love the idea of the return of quarter-sucking monster games. (Minus the quarter-sucking...of course).
superzapper2000 @ Jan 1st 2006 12:52PM
Thats what you need on a $400.00 game console ,Tetris.
William @ Jan 1st 2006 1:41PM
lol. In Canada, if you add the price of a year of live, an extra controller, and 2 games, after taxes its about $875. To play PerfectDark and ... Tetris! Yay!
carl @ Jan 1st 2006 2:38PM
Are the 360 games region locked? Cause otherwise an import of it wouldn't be so bad - I mean, how many menus could there be to not understand?
Adam Carrico @ Jan 1st 2006 3:39PM
The games that are said to be region locked are first party titles, but that is just from another site.
And like the first post said, have you never heard of Tetris Worlds? People still play it online, and they are hardcore!
Hardwareguy @ Jan 1st 2006 10:17PM
I'd love this game to come out in the US. Until then I guess we just have http://www.tetrinet.org/
