The xbox360 controller at my friends house was completely ignored as we played dance dance revolution all weekend. The 360 is a good console but a party delight? Hogwash. Joystiq must be getting alot of hate mail for all the "XBOX360 annoyance" posts so they feel they have to put up BS like this to try to calm the natives.

Shut up chipper

also: It depends on the guests really, some peoples guests may not have been as inquisitive as others and thought "OMG FLASHING LIGHTS IM IN!" rather than "hey whats that" and start pushing buttons.

This is weak!!!

I agree with chipper they are doing this to calm people down. The annoyance they post are stupid and so are the delights. The 360 is a great system and if u can not think of anything etter than great at parties then you don't deserve to own one.

What a joke of a site!!!

chipper: this is based on an entirely true story--a new year's party in fact.

mercatfat: it's a known problem, we're working on it!

I've had far more success with my gamecube at parties than any other system.

It's mainly because Mario Kart: DD, Monkey Ball, and Mario Party titles are far more friendly (and fun) than most other multiplayer games.

I also own wavebirds.

For the "gamer" friends, Smash Brothers, FF:CC, Zelda: Four Swords, Metal Arms, F-Zero GX and Timesplitters games more than suffice.

They tend to be a bit too much to handle for casual folks, however.

(thats not even mentioning all of those2 player games i own)

BINGO!!! My g/f (who is NOT a gamer btw) has been getting pretty competitive in MKDD and actually got some her friends to play it over the weekend when we were waiting for people to show up.

i love the MP3 streaming and the visual effects. good for party "background". to really own the party, Xbox 360 needs Guitar Hero 2 and downloadable song packs.

The Xbox 360 was on briefly at my New Years party, but it was a pain scrolling thru thousands of artists/albums/tracks with the joypad (even with the triggers, remote was even worse!)

I also hate the way you can't see the actual files- my ID3 tags are all over the place for my MP3s, so finiding new stuff is a pain if it's not tagged correctly (i'll just go back a decade and start my mp3 collection again shall i?)

In the end the KiSS media box came back on, which can do shoutcast radio, streaming mp3s via filenames oh and VIDEO! I like the 360, but the media functions are so half hearted.

And yeah, the gamecube wins for proper games to play at parties easily (Bomberman, Monkey Ball) but the PS2 is catching up in the gimmick game department (Sing Star, Eye Toy)

Can we seriously drop this annoyance / delight thing? Having them on this page is like you guys posting in the IGN forums or something. I really, really don't care about your horribly written bitchfests.

Totaly agree.

Had a party for new years and had people plugging their ipods straight into the 360 and with the visual stuff it was all pretty cool. But it didn't take long for the girls to get into Zuma and were absolutly hooked. So it seems Xbox has succeded in getting the ladies interested as well.

The arcade and marketplace are a big bonus for microsoft over playstation, PS3 will have to have a very good online system to keep up i reckon.

To be fair, I don't have an XBox 360, only the Xbox connected to an HDTV. But it went unoplayed as people crowded into my little study/den for Guitar Hero. It was going all weekend.

Graphics are great, but they can't beat everyone's inner rock star.

This can be said for any console really. So this isn't anything special we haven't seen before.

This is the most retarded shit ever. Everyone knows the Gamecube is the best party console due to it's obvious party focused games. The Xbox 360 is nothing more than an overhyped dungheap. This "delight" smacks of microsoft kickbacks. Credibility--

#5 Greatest reason to own an Xbox, its cool at parties! Honestly, my friend has 3, I was gonna buy one off him, he said, "Don't it's not worth it" Biggest reason was no REAL hit title for it...

Which is probably why this post is a lie, no wonder it doesnt make mention of what game could be played!

The games are "Pretty Cool" at best...
