Games might still have a different encoding system on them.

Great, so us Europeans will freely be able to import all those quirky, original and entertaining African/Turkish RPGs, cute platformers and fast-paced shooters, and the Americans will only be able to import from Japan - like any decent game ever came out of Japan!

Yeah, it's great to be European.

Thanks Sony for screwing us Europeans again!

What's even the point of having region encoding if you put the two biggest markets in one region? Is it even legal?

Actually, we Europeans share Region 2 with Japan atm. But this doesnt mean we can import Japanese games, only movie DVD's. So I dont think the change will have any impact whatsoever for gamers.

Does this mean that the rumor about Sony preventing the resale of games through weird DRM is bunk?

Am I the only one here who this is actually good news for? : P

Actually, this doesn't really have too much of an impact on gamers in my area because it is cheaper and easier to just get your console modded, then download and burn any game you want to play, rather than go to all that trouble of importing. The internet is FABULOUS.

Fuck regions, let's stop outlawing cultural diffusion for once.
