"What is worse is the tendency for stores to have a larger selection of UMD movies than PSP games."

I felt the same thing. I take a look at what's new for the PSP to play and the number of UMD movie titles completely cover the entire PSP selection. It's like, "what happen to the games?"

What's also interesting is I can't find recent games like SOCOM, Star Wars Battlefront and Ghost in the Shell. What gives!? I did see Most Wanted though. Didn't want it because I have the console version and just didn't feel like starting all over again on a smaller screen.

So true about the PSP. It's like Sony doesn't even care, despite the fact that there are people, especially kids who'd you assume would go for the DS, who are excited by the system. Price alone isn't a factor in the PSP choking itself. It's the fact that Sony is barely trying to sell it unless it's as an iPod killer.

It is NOT an iPod killer.

Once they face facts and admit that people see the PSP as a game system with extras, not a media jukebox with games, and moreso once they actually bother trying to sell the thing they will get better sales and might have a chance at beating the DS.

But it might be too late. The DS is coming out with killer games on seemingly monthly or bimonthly basis and the PSP has yet to find it's killer ap.

Are those display models shoved back in a cabinet behind an inch of plastic or playable demo units? I haven't seen a single place to have a go at actually playing a PSP since well before the launch when i had a go on an import one back before even the US release! Yet nearly every store has a DS demo unit up, and many carried them before the DS got its launch in europe.

Looks like Microsoft and Sony's market value went up too. Midway had the biggest gain.

Doesn't it only make sense that there be more movies than games?

Movies have been around a little longer and there are more of them.

Whether or not it devalues the PSP can only be blamed on Sony.

If Sony spent half as much time making a compelling game for the PSP as they do putting their movies on a new format then maybe they would actually sell PSPs.
