Craftwork: gaming inspired scarf and tote

Cory Doctorow at BoingBoing always has the goods on gaming inspired crafts. This week he put up links to a Super Mario Bros. 3 scarf by one Ms. Helen Li featuring the cast of characters on one side and their "smushed/dead" counterparts on the other. Brilliant! Also for your enjoyment is a Space Invaders tote bag knitted by Brenda. The formula of adding nostalgic videogame icons to your crafts project works every time. Words can't describe how badly I want this stuff!

Is there anywhere i can get a pattern for that scarf. I'll learn how to knit, how hard could it be?

You could probably make that scarf (if you took sometime and had someone to help you). It's knit in stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row repeat) in all black. Then she came back and made the charaters using Duplicate Stitch which is basically sewing. http://www.sweaterscapes.com/dup-st.htm

You would want to chart it out first like the bag has been, which could be done easily by looking at the larger pictures closely.

Thanks for fixing my links! Well at the yarn store I work at we usually charge yarn + $10 an hour for custom work. So I would knit you that for about $70 - $90 (yarn isn't cheap). :P
