the bowels of Take-Two's financial results for 2006 is the acknowledgement of "a new brand for the Xbox 360 and a
sequel of a Rockstar brand." It is unclear, but it sound like they mean this "sequel of a Rockstar
brand" is also heading to the 360. (Please don't let it be State of Emergency, please don't let it be State of
Emergency...)The Rockstar 2006 product list read as such, "Additional products expected for fiscal 2006 include the newly announced Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for PlayStation 2, tentatively planned for release in the second quarter, Bully for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, two new titles for the PSP handheld system, including an all-new Grand Theft Auto, a title based on a new brand for the Xbox 360 and a sequel of a Rockstar brand, all from Rockstar Games."
It is certainly interesting that they refer to the new game as a new "brand" inferring a franchise and not a standalone title. Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series has been cited as being not much better than the much maligned "roster update" that many fans see the Madden series as. Then again, this is the parent-corporation talking, eager to maximize any expenditure; why make one game when you can make 3 of them?
