Turner Broadcasting's GameTap service, which
launched in October, will soon be supporting Viiv, Intel's new digital entertainment platform. The alliance will allow
GameTap subscribers to play games that have been downloaded to their Windows XP Media Center on their TV. Games can be
controlled using wireless devices, including Media Center PC remotes and Xbox 360 game pads. Even if you no longer have your old consoles, there are plenty of other options for playing classic titles on your TV using current and next gen hardware. Nintendo plans to launch their own classic download service and there are numerous classic compilation discs from Atari, Namco, and Midway, available for all the consoles (not to mention the inexpensive Atari Flashback and JAKKS Pacific TV games). Will the Viiv technology be enough for you to pony up $15 a month to the Turner empire? How many of you have signed up for the service already?
