The parent company of the United Kindom's
largest games retail chain announces that they've achieved their highest earnings ever over the holiday, all thanks to
the PSP. According to a report by the BBC, Games Group earnings from sales of hardware and software for the Sony PSP
experienced a 26.6% rise over the same six week holiday period, ending on January 7 of this year, when compared to the
volume of similar products sold the previous year. This story coincides with the recently trumpeted earnings of UK game sales when compared to
those in the US. The company says that an "improved supply" of PSP consoles and games contributed to the high
sales figures, and also report that they had no issues with moving Xbox 360 merchandise as well, so says an article from The Register. In delightfully honest
capitalist-speak, the rep from Games Group ends his announcement by stating that they look forward to the arrival of
the Sony PS3 and the Nintendo Revolution so they can make even more money.[photo via Kikizo]
