I find it hard to believe that there will be no extra rev functionality for Twilight Princess. BUT - why would nintendo keep denying it ?

Wow. Can people please read these statements with a logical mind? Nintendo NEVER said anything to imply that extra features using the Revolution controller would be added to the game.

The original quote that they're STILL going on is: "Twilight Princess will be playable on the forthcoming Revolution using the upcoming console's unique controller. When you insert the disc into your Revolution, you'll be given the option to use the Revolution's controller, with all the advantages this will bring."

Read it with a logical mind. Try to suppress your hopes of this happening and think through the statement.

"It will be playable on the Revolution." This is obvious since its backwards compatible.

"When you insert the disk in your Revolution you'll be given the option to use the Revolution's controller, with all the advantages this will bring." It's beyond obvious that you'll be able to use the Revolution's controller to play it on the Revolution. They don't say you won't have to use the attachment, and even if you don't have to, I'd bet they just use the pointing of the controller to aim the bow and hookshot.

The bottom line is that Nintendo has said NOTHING about this, and journalists trying to get a story from nothing have turned it into something.

That's not saying it won't happen, but man these nuts reaching for a lead to the point of ignoring logic are annoying me.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but hasn't a big selling point of the Revolution been that it will be able to play the entire Nintendo catalog? If so, regardless of media format, is it new to envision some method of playing the Twilight Princess on the Rev?

I think that it will work to a certain extent. The gyro will be able to imitate the motion of the thumbstick. So walking around and the afore mentioned aiming of the bow/hookshot/boomarang should be possible.

As far as swinging the sword is concerned, I highly doubt that part...

Swinging the sword won't be inch-for-inch, angle-for-angle (that would require a very large database of motions, hard to do), but an approximation would be easy. Think about it, in the LoZ, you press one button to use the sword, but based on how Link is moving, or if you are locked on to an enemy, Link swings differently. The sword training in WW comes to mind. So rather than pressing up on the stick and A to do a jab, just tilt the controller forward and press A. To do a left to right or right to left slash, move the controller side-to-side and press A. To do a jump slash, flick the controller forward while holding A.

Basically, it will be a much different, more intuitive input for the same actions that we use today. Nothing extensive for the programmers, as all they have to do is tell the game (forward+A) is the same as (stickUp+A), but a heck of a lot of fun for the players. I'm really hoping Nintendo figures this one out; I can't wait.

Actually, now that I think of it it would be best to hold the A button down for all uses of the sword. This would tell the game to pay attention to the next movement the controller makes.

Seriously, just stick your hand out, press your thumb down like you were holding the A button, and move your hand around. Side to side = slash, forward = jab, swinging downwards = jump slash.

You could even add the defensive rolls in by requiring players to also hold the underside B trigger. Then your flicks side to side would perform the rolling.

Holding just the B trigger and moving the controller around would bring up the shield and allow much more accurate use.

I really think this is what Nintendo is hinting at.

Bottom line, it's not exactly what people are thinking or what the Revolution demo video presented, but it's going to be pretty cool.

Now for an infamous third-post-in-a-row...

I guess I should mention that I'm not talking about huge swings. The Revolution's controller should be able to detect small changes in its position, so moving 2 inches should be enough to activate Link's swing. No, you aren't going to need a 10 foot by 10 foot open area to use this controller... ;)

Everyone seems to be forgetting the promise that this will be the last Zelda game with "traditional controls."

word shadowfamicom, i agree. the revolution controller is cool but we should have all been exploring a gamecube hyrule by now. gamecube has been around, and wind waker was fun by i wanted more than a sunken hyrule. we should have all been playing this game by now, we've been had.

the revolution controller will be fun to use with this game, but i would have rather just had the game by now. nintendo is playing us.

According to all that have worked on the game, the delays are due to a lengthening and tweaking of all that is TP. They want to make it the best LoZ ever, and by delaying the game until they are absolutely done with it, they avoid producing a dissapointing ending like WW had. I've read it'll have more temples than OoT, with up to 75 hours of play the first time through. Personally, I'm glad they are taking their time with it. I'd rather have the game in my 'cube now, yes, but something tells me this game will be worth the wait.
