Just a couple of days ago, Japanese software sales were
released for the week after Christmas. Last week's figures are no different in favor of the DS handheld and
Nintendo as a publisher. Top software sales in the land of the rising sun from January 2 to January 8 were as
follows:#. Platform - Title - Publisher - This week's sales
1. NDS - Brain Training 2 - Nintendo - 290,000
2. NDS - Animal Crossing: Wild World - Nintendo - 133,000
3. NDS - Mario Kart DS - Nintendo - 115,000
4. NDS - Brain Training for Adults - Nitnendo - 114,000
5. NDS - Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - Nintendo - 98,000
6. PS2 - Kingdom Hearts 2 - Square Enix - 83,000
7. NDS - Brain Training for Kids - Nintendo - 63,000
8. NDS - Tamagotchi no PuchiPuchi Omisecchi - Bandai - 62,000
9. NDS - Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon Blue - Nintendo - 57,000
10. GBA - Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon Red - Nintendo - 49,000
DS Fanboy notes that 8 out of the top 10 titles were for the DS, while the same number was published by Nintendo. Yeah, yeah, the Nintendo and its shiny 2-screener are doing well in Japan (a la McDonald's 4 billion served). But Sony will be releasing six new titles for the PSP in the coming months, so it should be interesting to see if or how games on the multifunction device could affect the handheld marketplace.

Very Nice Nintendo. Very Nice.
Like was said " The winner between the PSP and DS will be the winner of the console war"
And we have the winner.
Even if the competition has an ok line up for E3, Nintendo will have a a line up 10x as stellar.
Plus a new sexy makeover for the DS.
Now, Bring on the Nintendo Revolution !!

And why not? I think it's pretty good proof that Nintendo understands both the portable market and the "casual gamer". This is obviously what both of those demographics wants.
Just because these things aren't hardcore enough for you doesn't mean they shouldn't count. Maybe it's stuff like SOCOM that shouldn't count - most of the PSP's games hardly even belong on a handheld. If you're going to count stuff like that, then you may as well count the stuff that actually sells too.

The reason? Load times..
I started noticing that I spend a good chunk of my PSP playing time watching "loading" flash on the screen.. It was absolutly the worst with Virtual Tennis, every new screen took 5-10 secs min to load.
I don't think I've ever even seen that word displayed on my DS.

in america and europe too,did anybody else read or hear this info? The DS has won the whole handheld
battle to me and i feel that even though Nintendo didn't have the biggest home console market share they
still won last generation because they are the only ones who made a profit, and yeah Japan should be a clear indication of whats to come this year with the
Revolution.
