Bruckheimer considers Prince of Persia movie
Here's some Boll-less movie news
you might enjoy: explosion-friendly producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Rock,
Kangaroo Jack, and about 60 other films over the last 20 years) has mentioned, albeit briefly, that he and his
crew "have this thing called Prince of Persia, which is a big video game, that we're considering
doing."A consideration means very little, and the project would be one of 10 films and TV shows the prolific producer has planned between now and 2007. Still, with a man like Bruckheimer producing, you could expect at least a half-competent director and some fabulous eye candy.
Since all we can do is speculate, might as well facilitate: who would you want to see in a film adaptation of Prince of Persia?

I think either naveen andrews that played sayid in " LOST " or tony jaa that plays Ting in " ONG-BAK " muay thai warrior, let me know what you think?
sean mutlu @ Feb 7th 2006 5:57PM

Chris @ Feb 9th 2006 1:48PM
I think this is gonna be a cool movie if done right.
I thought this was an interesting question:
From: http://www.princeofpersiafan.com/1/movie/
“How are you going to make sequals? You cant make Warrior Within and Two Thrones. You can try to make them pg-13 but then they would kind of suck because you have to reduce the violence, gore, language, and nudity.”
How would you answer it?
marshall revell @ Feb 10th 2006 8:49PM
alright first of all i'd like to point out that i don't want to sound all self absorbed or like an ass or anything, but i am probably both the biggest PoP fan and nerd EVER! and so far know more than anyone in any forum out there. that being sad, i will accept nothing but the best, and as much as i want a PoP movi, i just don't think hollywood is up to it right now. CGI? hell no! live action all the way. and as everyone knows just about everyone who is supposed to be from that general area of the world is white in video games, and that is not the way it should be, it should be someone who atleast looks persian. next as for casting, has anyone out there considered the actor who was filmed for the cutsceans of warrior within? look at the making of vids for the game. he probably has the princes mind set better than anyone else (except for me and jordan mechner), i mean come on, he DID the prince. the prince IS him. almost move for move. problem is, he is white. so hollywood needs to go out and find someone, and is therefor not ready. as for jerry bruckheimer producing, and jordan mechner wrighting, i can't think of any one better for either of their positions.
i would also like to take this time to point out (even though others have allready done so) that i have known about this for a couple of years atleast. this isn't new news. all they are doing, is re-stating, what they are considering doing, so the fans will keep their interst.

Oded Fehr....Got the look, amazing actor...about time he gets a leading role...he deserves it....enough said
marshall revell @ Feb 11th 2006 4:05PM
you know what?..... i stand corrected!
#40 is right! Oded Fehr, don't know alot of his work so i googled him, and well... yeah! no wait HELL YEAH! okok hell yeah is a litle extream, he looks pretty good, but it could be better. unfortunately very few do look quite like the prince. hmmmm..... maybe with a little make-up bruckheimer could do it.... don't believe me look up. but i still say, if the guy who did his cut sceans looked more persian, he would be best for the job.
Jenny Solomon @ Feb 11th 2006 10:29PM
i agree...john abraham or oded fehr...both of sum middle eastern descent too
Eric @ Jan 13th 2006 4:15PM
I think colin farell would od a good job.
chris @ Jan 13th 2006 4:22PM
martin lawrence and will smith please!
patrick @ Jan 13th 2006 4:25PM
hmm, a prince of persia movie? for some reason i feel like jumping up in joy! if it was made with the same precision of the lord of the rings or something like that, and they did a trilogy-type of thing that would be really kool
Jellodyne @ Jan 13th 2006 4:28PM
Prince Rogers Nelson of course.
The Lamonster @ Jan 13th 2006 4:29PM
Farell is too old. I'd say Jay Hernandez, star of Crazy/Beautiful and Hostel. Either way the movie will suck but if it was me I'd cast Hernandez.
Wonderflex @ Jan 13th 2006 4:29PM
Alexander Siddig, if he could gain some weight
910do @ Jan 13th 2006 4:55PM
...how about Tom Welling !!!!???
Regula Oblique @ Jan 13th 2006 5:06PM
I think orlando bloom...tom welling should of been spiderman
Reeve @ Jan 13th 2006 5:13PM
Oh man, Jerry Bruckheimer? Let's hope that director Michael Bay won't get involved-- that would be my number-one request for a Prince of Persia movie.
gob @ Jan 13th 2006 5:17PM
Oded Fehr could work. He's done the heroic arabian thing before in The Mummy, and fit in really well with it.
I'm surprised that the Prince of Persia movie is still "under consideration", because, from what I understand, it's been on Bruckheimer's table since last summer or so, with Jordan Mechner himself as screenwriter. Just things have changed since then.
Embassy @ Jan 13th 2006 5:19PM
charleton heston??..anyone..??
Cyberclaws @ Jan 13th 2006 5:25PM
I think it should be a CGI movie, like FF was.
Daniel @ Jan 13th 2006 5:49PM
Oh hell no. You guys want a white actor to play the Prince of Iran?? At least someone with Middle Eastern background. C'mon!
Siddig is old. How about that guy from Lost?
SAL @ Jan 13th 2006 6:20PM
John abraham. He's a movie star in India and looks like the perfect Prince..google him.. IMDB boards are also suggesting him
Kristian @ Jan 13th 2006 7:08PM
Give Chuck Norris some make-up to make him look Middle-Eastern, and there you go.
deafie @ Jan 13th 2006 8:00PM
i agree with #8 oded fehr is the right man for the job he fits the profile, also the dude from lost works as well. come on a white guy thats insane thats something those mtv watching tweens (those little freaks that enjoy whatever the hell mtv chews up and vomits into thier mouths) would say. but the movie will be all good as long as uwe boll doesnt' touch it. can you dig it?
bag @ Jan 13th 2006 9:05PM
I say Yuri Lowenthal - the guy who did the voice for sot and two thrones looks exactly like the characters. If not him, how about Jaleel White or that guy who played Carl Winslow on family matters >:D
SAL @ Jan 13th 2006 10:33PM
Here's one of the imdb thread I was talking about, which is suggesting John Abraham for the role (it also got pics) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473075/board/nest/32538840
Nizam Rahman @ Jan 13th 2006 11:54PM
As long as he can diagonally jump between walls, he's find with me.
Anton @ Jan 14th 2006 12:27AM
Yes, lets ruin another franchise with crappy actors and stupid script - oooh!!! I know the perfect director and scriptwriter... Paul W.S Anderson!!!
Ryuukuro @ Jan 14th 2006 1:18AM
SAL, a bad movie does not ruin the franchise. Calm your inner fan boy. And Paul W. S. Anderson is a competent director. Recognize the difference between lame films and crap films. Lame films are watchable. Crap films are made by Uwe Boll, The enemy of art.
I'm not hot on Jerry Bruckheimer producing children, let alone movies, but at least he doesn't make complete and total stinkbombs (except that Kangaroo movie from what I hear.) Just boring action movies. But maybe he can do something with this.
Brandon @ Jan 14th 2006 3:17AM
The only obvious choice to play the prince is Craig T. Nelson, the guy from Coach for the less educated. The only other option is Don Vito.
Honestly, no one else has a chance. And Colin Ferrell? I must quote Will Smith with a big "HELLLLLLLLLLL no." The y'd be better off giving it to the guy who does Numa Numa.
JaSoN! @ Jan 14th 2006 7:48AM
maybe they should hire that kid from the "ong bak" movie. hes a complete nutcase of an athlete and thats what a prince of persia movie should be about. i cant see any of the above actors running up walls or doing crazy backflips over a chasm of spikes.
amazing sets (fuck cgi sets) cool cgi enemies, a good story, a tight pace and some serious hotty love interest could really make a half decent blockbuster based on a great series of games. if it was made into a movie then maybe it could end this horrible game to movie cross over. unless silent hill gets there first.
anyway not that any of that matters, the movie is no more than an advert for the far more lucrative video game business. woo!
Ashley @ Jan 14th 2006 11:49AM
I agree with the Yuri Lowenthal idea, because he has experience with setting and the character. I like the plot from all three games, but I'll only be statisfied if they can safely and understandably create the time travel plot. It can get really confusing when he changes the course of history twice...and we definately need a sweet-looking Dahaka.
Sean @ Jan 14th 2006 1:32PM
Screenwriter John August has spoken about this project a few times ... apparently he's working with Mechner himself, either as a co-screenwriter or a producer, I can't recall.
Douglas Cartland @ Jan 15th 2006 1:47PM
I don't mean to rant like a fanboy right now, but surely this is really old news. I mean fans of PoP have known about this since the production days of Warrior Within (more than a year ago!). The producer of WW talks (in the "making of..." video) about how Jordan Mechner is in L.A. working on the film. You can download the video from their official site here:
http://www.princeofpersiagame.com/uk/ww/videos.php
chate @ Jan 15th 2006 3:21PM
# 13, John is a perfect match for the prince, the guy isnt well known too, and jeez ppl naveen andrews? i wouldnt be able to take him seriously in the role, he doesnt look like the prince bodywise. as of now hollywood doesnt have a match for this character, i think they should look for a fresh face.
Shad Genki @ Jan 16th 2006 8:23AM
It's going to be Jet Li, and you guys all know it. Heheh. I have to say though that Bruckheimer has produced every #1 blockbuster tv show/movie for the past at least 5 years and I have complete faith in him. I like about 75% of his stuff I think, even if I don't watch it religiously. He's produced stuff I thought I would never like but found it enjoyable. Even his worst stuff is watchable, coz the guy demands quality.
Hm, Naveen Andrews from Lost is a bit too old to play POP. If I were to choose anyone from Lost, it'd be Jorge Garcia. Heheheh.
ATIP-dante @ Jan 17th 2006 10:27AM
I think that yuri lowenthral should be the prince because of his voice and he looks alot like the prince
at first i thought maby he only did voice acting so i look on his site and he does do i lot of acting.
kingmanor @ Jan 17th 2006 7:31PM
PoP should obviously be played by Le Parkour. He could do all the stunts himself!
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5906025054861480765
Lee @ Jan 25th 2006 1:24AM
I think that the movie should be done in computer animation just like it is in the video game. I think that is the only way that the Prince will be able to keep his appeal. Honestly, i don't think there is any actor that can portray the prince as accurately as the video game can. If a movie is being made is should be done in computer graphics and that's final!
francois @ Jan 26th 2006 12:29PM
Yes, Oded Fehr will do. It is about time he gets a Big role.
rachied @ Jan 30th 2006 6:44PM
It think eric bana could make a good prince of persia
tanya @ Feb 3rd 2006 5:56PM
Hugh Jackman.
Prince looks exactly like him on the cover of Warrior Within.
sean @ Feb 3rd 2006 9:07PM
...I think Orlando bloom...he can act, he is able to do the epic battle scens, which is all that prince of persia is, plus he also has the look of that prince has in the later games.
Justin @ Feb 5th 2006 9:10PM
Rofl. Let's cut the bullshit. Let's go with Antonio Banderas. >.>
Sry sry, I apologise. I submit! And I'm done. ^^
