Motaro is a member of a race known as Centaurians. Centaurians are native to Outworld, and are the natural enemies of the Shokan. Before Kahn's invasion, Motaro was in charge of organizing the extermination squads that would be used during the invasion. However, when both Goro and Kintaro are defeated, Shao Kahn promotes Motaro to General of Outworld's armies so that he can lead the invasion. The Centaurians living in Outworld see this as a victory over the Shokan and rally to support Kahn in his invasion. Motaro leads Kahn's armies through the portals to the Earth realm. Once there, Motaro commands the armies to begin sweeping the globe and wiping out all the remaining humans. What Motaro doesn't do is to closely guard Shao Kahn himself. He feels confident that if any humans find their way to Kahn's new fortress, that he and Kahn will be more than enough to stop them. His confidence proves to be misguided, and Kahn is driven back into Outworld by mortals. Shao Kahn starts to rebuild his army back in Outworld. Having few strong allies left he allows Motaro to keep his position, until he finds out what he must do to enter this new tournament. Because of the rules of Mortal Kombat, Goro is the only one who can enter the Outworld in the Mortal Kombat between the Earth realm and Netherrealm. To gain Goro's support, Kahn demotes Motaro and gives Goro his former position as General of Outworld's armies. Motaro barely tolerates the demotion, being loyal to Shao Kahn, but he's furious that his position of power has been taken from him, and given to a Shokan

Can you say Dranball Z: Tenkiachi? This is the same thing almost except DBZ had 90 characters counting transformations and 60 just counting the characters.

Just sucks that it's mortal kombat. =)

Yay!

But still, I am not a fan of the modern MK games, they haven't got the goryness right and the general fattening of many of the characters spoils them. They should bring the fighting style back to the good old days of MKII and III. Another thing I'd love to see in MK is more emphasis on a storyline, I know the MK film was poor but it did start something interesting for meand should be carried on.

Sweet. My favorite MK game was Trilogy which had nearly every kombatant from 1-3 and this looks bigger and badder (in a good way). Now all I gotta do is hope for Xbox 360 BC for this...

Dude, that game is sweet. It's the only thing DBZ has ever done that I've liked, game or anime wise. It's so fun just having a volley war with friends... f***ing vegeto...

I just wonder, which Sub Zero will be included? The ice shower Sub Zero? Will he have the frozen puddle, or the frozen statue instead?

The same goes for a bunch of other characters too. I used to love playing as Reptile, but a more recent game ruined the character for me.

If there is multiple versions, will all the versions be included, or just a few?

Motaro was the Centaur (horse torso) boss (in MK3?). It would probably be a pain to include him as his shape (ergo animation) is drastically different from the other characters. He wasn't that great of a character anyway.

Um, why would you want every Street Fighter character? The only good ones were from the original SF2. Most of the extras since then have been really lame, sans Akuma. Xmen vs SF is still my favorite one.

If it has a Konquest mode a la Shaolin Monks, SOLD! That was my favorite MK game since MK2. The only thing it was missing was the ability to play as ANY of the main characters. Oh well, Kang, Lao, Subzero and Scropion was good enough. MKDA could have been good, but the moves required a bit too much precision (then again...we have the crappy PS2 version because it was free).

Motaro was the sub-boss from Mortal Kombat 3, and he was a huge Centaur. The reason I figure he's being left out is because of the fact that he is a Centaur, controlling him might be a bit confusing...

I think the fighting engine has gotten a lot better. At first I hated it, but once I learned it, I got over the MK3-MK4 engine. I still think there is no worse MK to date than MK4. It is still the best fighting game to me after Street Fighter, and it has gotten better and better at the storyline.

The worst part is that we will probably still see the mediocre slideshow endings instead of a cut-scene per character, because there is not enough space. And since the X360 will not have enough space for that, say goodbye to great endings (graphicswise) for each character in a long time, if MK manages to survive such a long time.

Oh, and I forgot. They better include what the series lacked since MK4 (that pretty much made it go downhill):

All the finishing moves, including brutality, multality, hara-kiri, animality, mercy, friendship, babality, new finishing moves and of course fatality.

Oh, and new characters. At least include "The One Being".

Alright, I may be a dreamer, but I just said what would make it the perfect mortal kombat on my view.

I rented MK4 on N64, but I haven't been invested in the series since MK3.

For all that Mortal Kombat was (is?), it will always be remembered by me as the more bloody, less sophisticated cousin of SF2.

An SF2 compilation with all of the SSF2T/SF3/SF3A characters would be pretty terrific, but I'm certainly not holding my breath. I was underwhelmed by the SF2 Hyper Edition on PS2 and nothing short of a total compilation would be satisfactory.

Kudos to the person who remembered Stryker. What a pointless and stupid character. The only problem is that his bomb mechanics were actually pretty fun to play with.

--Dude, ever ripped a fighting game? They take up hardly over a CD(700mb), I've never seen one top 1.5gig. Fighting games TOTALLY have room for real endings, they just don't care to do so. They figure most people play against friends, not the story mode (i guess).

And everyone knows that Friendships/Babalities were only included to mock Nintendo, right? They put those in the second one after N's rape of the first game with altered fatalities, crotch-punching, and "sweaty" fighters.

Man... looking back on that game... Sonya was a total 80's chick. Look at the spandex and hair. Eeeshk.

Yeah right. Like they are going to fit 2 minutes per character, let alone the 10 minute intro and the campaign CGI. That would be a movie *plus* a game, which would be hard to fit unless it is not a high definition movie. You bet your ass it wouldn't fit on a 360 disc.

HAIL SHEEVA, Baby!

I hope we get kustom Fatalities and... Why not? Kustom Soundtrack. I can dream, an't I?

If them Midways didn't add CG endings to a 20+ charater game, I doubt it'll try it for a 60+ char featuring game.

As for the 60+ chars-is-not-that-much-cause-MVC2-had-56-and-Tobal- had-200...(gasp)... Aren't those games 7 and 9 years old, respectively? I mean, not to discount old MVC2, wich I owned and wish to reown, but they didn't exactly set the standard, either. And MVC2 mostly took chars that were already made(read: did NOT have to make the chars from scratch)for other, past games.

I'm actually quite exited about the Kreate a Kharacter feature. Then I'll create all the pallette swap ninjas my heart desires. Gum!(pink) Slim!(white)Cookie CUT!(Brown) Then take those swaps online to trade... fitiscuffs!

ok guys - i've read the full article in game informer and can tell u MKA is being made for ps2 and xbox NOT xbox 360 (but it will b compatible). This is cuase ps3 will not b out and if it is made for 360 only it cannot b formatted for ps2 (limiting sales to just 1 console instead of 3).

Motaro is definately out of the game and may only b added b4 release if there is space and time to design the centaur movement and interaction, so chances r he will not make it.

There r no animalities or that other stuff but only fatalities, which r all customed. This works by giving every character around 20 'death' moves (every character has the same set of 20). These r stuff like ripping ur opponents heart out, kicking their off, etc... On the fatality screen u will have a set time limit to execute ur custom fatality, e.g. Scorpion could harpoon some1 towards him and kick their head off as they come to him.

There will not b a new story line added. Instead the game will revolve around the general story line from MK1 until MK Deception. Due to this I doubt there will b new characters (well serious characters, I mean they might stick another Mokap in) or CG endings, they r more likely to sum up the story by using some picture slides and a written story.

The kreate-a-kustom character mode looks awsome as apart from the visual options being really in-depth so r the fighting options. U can just assign ur fighting moves by choosing the set fighting styles u want, but if u want u can choose every move u have, mixing and matching moves from different styles, thus creating ur own style.

Thats about as in-depth as Ed Boon takes the interview.

P.S. there r rumors of a new MK movie being made this year called MK Devastation.

Ugghh... another mk movie, what are they trying to do, kill people?
Mk Armageddon looks awesme, with EVERYBODY including the Dragon king and kintaro, that would have been SWEET to play in deception! I think it would be cool if they had a fatality with a test your might mini-game
For instance, when u do rains fatality you keep tapping the buttons for like 8 seconds to determine how zapped the guy gets by the lightning.
I hope they dont screw it up. they will have 2 add room for the 4- armed pepoepl to get their arms all ripped of. Boon better not screw this up.

I agree with a whole lot of what's being said. Me personally, I can do without ANY of the big bosses. Shao Khan, Goro, Dragan King, all of them, and ESPECIALLY MOTARO! There's gotta be another way which they can be included without actually being able to play with them. I don't think any one who's a true MK fan will even consider playing with one of these characters. They're big and slow with a bunch of boring moves...just a waste of memory space.

Hey Mr. Boon, here's some good advise for you. Either trash them, or use them as guards to unlockables because you know what?

NO BODY CARES...THEY'RE A WASTE OF TIME! PUT YOUR GENIUS BRAIN TO OTHER GOOD USES FOR THE GAME!!!!!
