WebMD, one of the largest online databases
for consumer health information, says that playing video games increases a child's exposure to violence. Some would
argue fictional violence but fair enough. The article also implies that video games "teach" children how to
use violence in their life. From the article: "Watching television and playing video games also increase your
child's risk of exposure to violence... Children are easily influenced by watching TV and playing video games... [they]
teach children about violence and how to use it in their lives."While the health directory never directly places blame on TV or video games for violent behavior, it definitely sources games as an indirect cause. So maybe the question isn't, "Do games cause violent behavior?" rather do games increase a sane individual's exposure to violence? And what happens when graphics get like this, does that change the scenario?
