I agree. this game will suck. It definately is difficult to pull off a good 3D smash em' up. In my opinion capcom should have gone with another 2D sequel. ALL of the final fight games, are on the top of my list. I LOVED the SNES versions, and I play Final Fight One on my GBA constantly, as a 3D game, this simply just isn't the same. Go for the 2D...the gaming industry needs a good 2D fighter or smash em' up. The original would make for a GREAT live! arcade title though on the 360.

"R* sets the trends."

hahaha. yeah, okay. too bad the final fight series pre-dates anything rockstar has done by 10 years. As a beat em' up game GTA sucks anyways. The hand-to-hand combat system is for shit, and 99% of your enemies offer a challenge in a fight back because they either A) you have a gun or B) they take no more than 2 hits to go down. Without the guns and violence the game would be crap. GTA is a shoot em' up, not a beat em' up. There ain't no guns in final fight. I still think this game will be no good, but not for one second do I credit it's existence to Rockstar, a company which, in my opinion is just beating a dead horse with the GTA series currently.

I won't deny that GTA:SA was a good game, but it's running on the SAME engine as GTA3 was. In addition to that, Rockstar couldn't even create a new environment for Liberty City Stories, or even a new character for that matter, and the fact that they are bringing the game to the PS2 just shows even more that the horse is dead, and there just milking it for as long as they can.

As for the comment above, didn't rockstar also make "The Warriors" into a pretty decent beat em up? They aren't just GTA.

The trend referred to was clearly mini-games in in-game arcade machines, anyway. I would have said, though, that LucasArts started the include-the-original trend with Day of the Tentacle running Maniac Mansion on Ed's computer.

Also, Final Fight had one gun: the cop, Eddie, shot you with it.

first of all. I never said that rockstar "only made GTA" my entire response was to argue that rockstar setting trends was not the reasoning behind a game like final fight: streetwise being made. Of all the games that rockstar has made, I find it hilarious that you think a game like "The Warriors" could actually set a trend for other companies to follow. Sure the warriors was a decent game, but it was hardly a trendsetter. If you want to talk about games that were following a trend that rockstar set, you need to look at games like True Crime, 25 ta life, etc. The point is, GTA is the only "trendsetting" game series that rockstar has developed. Once again, the final fight series pre-dates ANYTHING rockstar did by 10 years. While were on the subject of other games that rockstar made, anyone remember "State of Emergency"...yea great game. NOT.

I still think that this game will be no good, or decent at best, but I will re-state my arguement in my last comment, which everyone decided to completely ignore, and make posts like:

"shhh. let dsub think that Rockstar only makes GTA. Otherwise he'll realize he ranted for two paragraphs for absolutely no reason. =)"

and

"The Funniest part is that he cant edit his comment"

In my opinion, the funniest part is that you didn't even make a good arguement to my comment, or even speak on the subject of the post. You just pointed out the obvious fact that I can't edit it? As if I wish I could rush back to make a change to my statement to avoid looking like a tard? Sorry, you just did that yourself. And the whole "let him think rockstar only makes GTA thing"...how in god's name did you draw that conclusion from my post? Not once did I single out GTA as the only thing rockstar has done.

Anyways, my point was simply that rockstar has set no trends in the beat em' up genre. Manhunt was decent, the warriors was decent, but neither were trend setters. If anything capcom is the trendsetter. Back in the days of the original series of final fight games, capcom created the genre for the most part, with games like final fight, and knights of the round. Many games proceeded to mock the style, including the likes of Streets of Rage, and the majority of the Konami arcade beat em up games, like TMNT. Some other examples are the XMEN arcade game and the Simpsons arcade game, both classics as well.

If the original point was that they set the trend of having in-game mini games, then yes, I will give them that credit, perhaps for reviving it, as many games, like ninja gaiden have done this.

Finally, yes Eddie does have a gun in Final Fight One, but my point was that you, as a character do not have a gun, and neither do any other characters in the game. Thank god though, someone else on here has actually played the original final fight series.
