Trying to make a decent 3D beat-'em-up seems to be all the rage
these days, but it's certainly easier said than done. The American-developed Final Fight: Streetwise will
attempt to buck the trend with its arrival on the PS2 and Xbox next month.Metro City is a bit more free-roaming in the updated brawler's main mode, where you can actually earn the respect of its NPC inhabitants instead of throttling them. Of course, the more linear arcade mode is what we're looking forward to, with its co-op gameplay and hoped-for option of playing as Guy or our favorite one-suspender-strapped mayor.
What would be exciting for fans of the original game, however, would be if that arcade sitting in the back weren't just a fan-service prop, but also a working emulator of the old Capcom arcade hit. Now that would be something, wouldn't it?
