Careful, remember what American Greetings did to PA for their Strawberry Shortcake parody.

This is not the greatest videogame of all time -- this is just a tribute?

That was a waste of time. It was a bunch of non-funny, badly Photoshopped video game boxes. Did I miss something on the site or is that really what I was supposed to see? I don't mean to sound rude, but this doesn't seem up to the level of quality for which Joystiq usually strives.

I don't know therpham, maybe your photoshop skills are out of this world, but what I saw was fairly good (not great) photoshop box art. Made by fans, for fans, about video games. Sounds perfect for joystiq!

There's an active community of custom DVD cover artists out there on the web that produce some really fantastic work that's at a high enough quality and resolution to actually use as replacement covers. Unfortunately, most of their efforts go towards movie cover design rather than video game cover design. This link here strikes me as the custom cover idea in its infancy, whereas elsewhere it's already done a lot of growing. Consult Google.

Well, maybe there were some good ones in the serious section, but everything in the Satire section (which is what the post got me excited about) is a huge letdown.
