GameSpot has been tinkering around with the multiplayer beta of EA's upcoming RTS sequel, The Battle for
Middle-earth II. Lo and behold, it seems that EA has actually listened to the game's fanbase!According to the preview, the developers have now allowed for more freedom in terms of how you build your base, but in a manner which promotes spreading out farms and mines, while now featuring structural defenses - all features reportedly requested by the community for the original title, and all 3 of these new additions praised by the GameSpot staff for how they add to the depth of the game. Although their play was limited, they like what they've seen so far.
Oh, and the game is pretty - always a plus. The upcoming Lord of the Rings-inspired title is slated for release next month on the PC, with the recently-announced Xbox 360 version coming out this summer. Be sure to check out the game's official site for a few new images, released yesterday.
