This generation I owned all 3 from launch. Only the Xbox delivered for me mostly because of Xbox Live. Both my GC and PS2 collect dust. I have a 360 but I'm passing on the PS3. The Revolution interests me but I'm not convinced on it yet. I need to see the games first. This whole idea of Nintendo simplifying things to get non-gamers to play has me worried that the games will be party games full of mini-games and not full fledged games. I'm also worried that we'll see a lot of the same old games just now you get to play them with a new controller. I'll only buy a Rev if the gaming experience is totally new and 3rd party's make exclusive games for it making full use of the controller. I'm not interested in the Virtual console at all or Nintendo's online plan whatever it may be. And recently all these next gen games have been announced by developers and not one has mentioned any games for the Revolution, not even from EA. The last info I need to make a decision is the price, I won't buy a Rev for $299 or even $249. At $199 I'll add it to my 360 meal deal.

I'm amazed anyone even wants a PS3. We know nothing about it. It has no online features, has the same graphical capabilities as the 360 (compare Fight Night demos), has a few expected sequels, is aesthetically disturbing, and has the same old dualshock controller (that did some aerobics). Sony has yet to show anything promising other than a few prerendered game demos and their knack for talking out of their ass.

Sure, Nintendo will have expected sequel games as well, but we get the new controller and the virtual console. Plus its size won't take over our entertainment area. And come on. It's Nintendo!

The 360 gives us XBL, Xbox Live Arcade, Microsoft Marketplace, an aesthetically pleasing machine, and an excellent game lineup this year (which will continue, since the Xbox 360 is easier to develop for). Don't forget the best controller to date.

Waiting for a PS3 seems that it would put you in gaming limbo. That system is a "wait 2 years to buy". I'm surprised Sony advocates think they have the right to say anything about Microsoft products. Sony has had the weakest console (in specs) of this generation, just like the generation before that. Don't get me wrong, the PSX was great...I still play it. But the PS2 was pretty laughable after playing the same games on an Xbox and moreso after going online (Splinter Cell, Burnout, etc).

You have to take into acount that almost all (if not all) of the people visting this forum (or any other game forum) are gamers, many of the none/casual gamers will buy the Rev simply because it's going to be cheaper;
so you combine that with all the gamers on this poll who chose the Rev, and the Rev wins by an even bigger margin.

"I'm amazed anyone even wants a PS3. We know nothing about it."

Then, it will be interesting how many will want one once we know more. Hell, now even more people want one. And that's counting the fact that it will be very expensive!

"It has no online features,"

So why does it have a Gigabit Ethernet port, which is superior to the 100Mbit Ethernet port that the 360 has?

"has the same graphical capabilities as the 360 (compare Fight Night demos),"

Umm, way to decide on that, judge. By the way, why don't we dismiss the exclusives while we are at it, especially when PS3 is not even out?

"has a few expected sequels,"

Well, I along many others, are expecting many more titles for PS3. Most of the titles announced for the 360 are not appealing, specially because the number of RPGs will be too few. Japanese developers will surely be on the PS3 wagon, so don't worry, it will have better exclusive games, not just FPS.

"is aesthetically disturbing,"

I'm sorry... you like more the Xbox 360? Good for you. The only word I can think for describing the designer of the "concavity" in that console is "dipshit". It's horrible, and uninspired. The 360 controller is just plain. It's the same shape as the S-controller, which was horrible.

"and has the same old dualshock controller (that did some aerobics)."

And the Xbox 360 is the same old S-controller, which was a copy of the Dual-shock anyway.

"Sony has yet to show anything promising other than a few prerendered game demos and their knack for talking out of their ass."

You must be an industry insider to be talking like that, right?

"Sure, Nintendo will have expected sequel games as well, but we get the new controller and the virtual console."

On that, I agree: Nintendo has done the best to impress us. Just look at how almost everyone wants it, and we know less for the Revolution than for the PS3. We have seen no games.

"Plus its size won't take over our entertainment area. And come on. It's Nintendo!"

Hell yeah.

"The 360 gives us XBL,"

for a cost

" Xbox Live Arcade,"

more cost

" Microsoft Marketplace,"

Wait, so not only do I have to pay *extra* for games that are only improved a little bit graphicwise, despite the fact that I couldn't care less if they were High Definition or not, but I also lose my ability to get a complete game out of its box? Where do I sign? It's a win-win situation for Microsoft and the Developers: Developers can do a half assed job, and can keep getting income for transactions that will also make Microsoft rich.

"an aesthetically pleasing machine,"

If mediocre is the definition of "pleasing"; it's HORRIBLE. At least they could have made it shine, instead of making it look like a plastic dumpster.

" and an excellent game lineup this year (which will continue, since the Xbox 360 is easier to develop for)."

PS2 was hard to develop for, the Cube was easy to develop for. Guess who got the better library?

" Don't forget the best controller to date."

I don't forget it; it's called "wavebird". Second place: N64. Honorable mention: Dual-shock. Xbox 360 controller? Good for the *last gen*, not innovative.

"Waiting for a PS3 seems that it would put you in gaming limbo."

Basically, all Xbox fanboys are admiting their first Xbox was a piece of shit, that's why they had to rush for an Xbox 360. I have a cube and a PS2 with TONS of games I haven't finished, and the games I'm expecting the most right now, are still current-gen, not next gen. So I can wait as long as it takes for the two real next-gen finished consoles, not half-assed rush jobs.

"That system is a "wait 2 years to buy"."

Stop speculating, and give me some facts.

"I'm surprised Sony advocates think they have the right to say anything about Microsoft products."

I'm surprised Microsoft advocates think they have the right to say anything about Sony products, being as they haven't played any.

"Sony has had the weakest console (in specs) of this generation, just like the generation before that."

PS1 vs. N64: PS1 was out a long ass time before the N64; did you see anything like the final fantasy games, metal gear solid or resident evil on the N64? Only Rez, and it was too late. Also Zelda, Blast Corps and Goldeneye, too bad they were too few titles.

PS2 vs. Xbox: PS2 was out a long ass time before the Xbox, and the difference was too little.

PS3 vs. 360: The difference in hardware is little if you don't count Blu-ray, but the launch dates will also be closer than what PS2 was to Xbox. Blu-ray, combined with the Cell and the RSX will do marvels that just might not happen on the 360, if only for its media size.

"Don't get me wrong, the PSX was great...I still play it. But the PS2 was pretty laughable after playing the same games on an Xbox and moreso after going online (Splinter Cell, Burnout, etc)."

I'm sure selling 100 million is "Pretty laughable" compared to little more than 20 million Xboxes; not only 20+ million sold, but also a 5 billion dollars loss and counting. Now, that is laughable.

Don't give me the "everyone had to buy more than one ps2", because it seems that only that is true for the freezing and overheating Xbox 360. It just seems that the ratio is high because the sales where very high, and that there are morons that don't even know how to use a console properly. Me and almost every gamer (casual or not) I know only had to buy one PS2, end of story. I know several Xbox owners that had to get them fixed. Hell, two thirds of the Xboxes were defective, so who are Xbugs to criticize?

Check the amount of most wanted games worldwide this generation, and the Xbox has nothing but Halo (and just in the West), another uninspired FPS. Even the cube beat it on the amount most wanted games (as you said, they are Nintendo) and on profit made.

From this poll of 7402 votes who are planning to buy one or a 'console combo'.

2nd. Playstation 3 - 3603 votes = 48.68%
3rd. Xbox360 - 3481 votes = 47.03%

Total count = 13324
