Capcom's
Mega Man X Collection offers a total of seven Mega Man games with remixed soundtracks. If you're a fan of the
series, you've probably already picked up a copy of the game. If not, here's what the reviews have to say:
- Gamespot 72% - "Mega Man X
Collection isn't nearly the resounding success that Capcom's first Mega Man compilation was, but it's far from a
failure. Any fan of the Mega Man X series that doesn't already own all these games in some form or another ought to
give this collection a try."
- Gamespy 80% - "...The low $30
price tag makes it a worthy purchase if you're looking for a retro game fix. It's a shame that there aren't as many
games on this compilation as there were on the Anniversary Collection (Mega Man Soccer really should've been included),
but you're still getting some fun games ([except], of course, Mega Man X6)."
- IGN 70% - "Because the emulation here is so adept, the
gameplay remains unchanged. In fact, in some cases it's slightly improved as the slowdown found in the older cart
versions has either gone away or been significantly enhanced."
At the time of writing, the GameCube
version had a slightly higher average ratio of 77% compared with the PS2's 72%.

I always loved the SNES Mega Man X games, but I didn't realize how lame they got in the latter part of the series with all the armor, shadow images and light shows. It's like they dumped any hope for good control so they could have eighty light particles orbiting him, shoes the size of his body, light sabers, and a side kick with hair band hair. That's not the Blue Bomber I know.
Oh well, at least I've got the first three, which are some kick-ass platform titles.
And whoever wrote that IGN review is retarded. I know what he meant to say, but "significantly enhanced slowdown" is not a good thing. And I don't think these games are emulated since there are some tiny differences.

As is evident from my handle, I am a huge Megaman X fan, but this collection most definetly sucks. Why? It's just the collection of games, 1-6 + Battle and Chase (Which never came to the US), with -a few- extras such as artwork.
We were promised voice actors for X4 and X6, remixed soundtracks for 1 and 2, we were promised alot for this collection but after delays, the finished product was only half of what we wanted. The reason? They scrapped it all thanks to Keiji Inafune (Father of Megaman), who felt the extras (Such as redubs, remixed sountracks) would boycott the PSP X Remakes, titled Maverick Hunter X.
Anyway, having played through the collection, it's eh. The games, which I've played to death through emulation are done well, there's alot of errors in the game (Crappy Translations, odd sound effects, mistakes etc), but overall, it's alright. Nothing spectactular, and this is coming from a huge fan. 6.7/10

Hard to take you Joystiq guys seriously when you can't even post the correct boxart.

Isn't MegaMan X the game where Mega Man can do a hadoken? That's pretty good.

Who on earth looks for a "retro game fix"? Grow up man, its 2006.

These are great games, but I dont think the collection was put together that well. The interface (as was the Anniversary Collection) is pretty rough.
The thing I've found to be my biggest problem so far is that the controller (GC or PS2) isn't made for these kind of games like the SNES was. My hands start hurting after playing for 20 or so minutes, where as when I play the SNES versions, I could play for hours without my hand cramping whatsoever.
I also dislike how X3 is the Japenese playstation version, and not the US SNES version of the game.
