While a few Joystiq readers seemed unimpressed with an earlier Animal Crossing: Wild World report on the
consequences of DS
time travel, this glitch seems just a tad more severe. According to a Nintendo forum poster, dubbed "Pinkybo,"
has discovered (rather unfortunately) a glitch in the game that causes the entire Town Gate to disappear from his game,
effectively isolating the poor DS player. The culprit? It's currently unverified, but it seems to have something to do
with pitfall seeds falling too close to the gate. The poster, who spoke with Nintendo, claims a Nintendo rep has asked that he ship his copy of the game in so that they can analyze the problem. Supposedly one other player has had a similar error, deriving also from the use of pitfall plants. There is also a suggestion on how to bring the Town Gate back "by moving out of his town and moving back in," but that has not been verified, either.
Our advice? Be careful with your pitfall seeds, and be wary of those who wander into your town with some seeds in possession, looking for a few good laughs.
