IBM is in
a wonderful position - no matter who wins the next-generation "console wars," IBM comes out on top. As the
provider of the Xbox 360 CPU, IBM has reported making $3.2 billion, exceeding initial expectations. If that was not good news enough, IBM's profits are sure to rise this year as Xbox 360 manufacturing continues vigorously (we hope, at least) and both Sony and Nintendo prep for their coming launches. IBM developed the Cell processor with Sony, so they have a stake in the PlayStation 3, and IBM is responsible for Revolution's "Broadway" CPU, reportedly launching before Thanksgiving this year.
I'm not a stock broker, but I'd say IBM is going to have a pretty good year.
