Jago:

Fight Night Round 3 was announced as a PS3 exclusive at the time the demo ran at Sony's booth at E3 2005. Read the Novemeber 2005 issue of GameInformer for further proof of that claim.

bd:

If the difference between the PS3 and 360's graphics are less than the difference between the XBOX and the PS2 then I don't even know why you're arguing that the PS3 is a superior machine. 75% of all information on the PS3 is pure speculation as Sony has decided to keep us all in the dark about their mystery machine until some unknown day in the future. So speculate away, meanwhile, I'll enjoy a very solid, very fun 360 for the next year while you play PS2 waiting for a launch-delayed PS3. When you finally get that hardware in your hands with a handful of games, I will have a 50+ title library to choose from (according to MS) and a proven online system. Only THEN will you be able to start comparing the two machines as both will be available for use and game quality can be compared. Only then will we know just how much that BluRay drive will cost us and whether or not the price can justify it's existence. Until I see real games and a real PS3 however, I, as a smart consumer choose to not buy into the Sony hype/speculation. If the PS3 comes out and delivers, great. Until then, there isn't much of a real debate here... The 360 is out and by owning one I can tell you that it is a great piece of hardware and the online features have surpassed my expectations. I suggest you play one for a while before casting judgement on it. Likewise I suggest you play a PS3 for a while before you make the decision on which console is better.

Spartacus,

I already played Kameo, and I disliked it. When "my turn" was over, I saw somebody play Call of Duty 2, and another one play King Kong, and honestly I'm unimpressed.

As I said, I was arguing that I thought it was stupid to assume it is impossible to topple LIVE (even if it is unlikely), and that the PS3, if it costs 500 dollars (and only if), is worth more the money as hardware in general, not as a gaming console in particular. The 1 Gigabit Ethernet, the cell processor, the 2 HDMI outputs, the 1080p resolution, are either not so useful now, and won't be so useful for gaming (at the moment), but it is a lot more than what Xbox 360 is offering alone (unless LIVE was free, and maybe even then I wouldn't know, since I'm comparing hardware on itself anyway), if it indeed costs 500 dollars. If it costs less (unlikely perhaps? Not impossible), I'll be sure to buy the large hard drive with it.

Am I saying the PS3 will have better games than the 360? No. Am I saying the contrary? Neither. There are two main reasons I would be the first in line for a PS3: Blu-ray and Backwards compatibility. The games *may* come later, but I already have reasons for PS3.

Reasons for getting revolution: 1. BC, 2. Cheap, 3. Something new, 4. It's Nintendo

Reasons for the 360:

I can't find reasons now, since I don't have an Xbox 1 (that does not mean I haven't played it, in fact I have finished Halo 2 and played a lot on LIVE and I have played a lot Ninja Gaiden; arguably the best games for Xbox, but that's pretty much it; to me, 5-6 games, most of which came in the end of the Xbox lifespan don't make a console worth it).

I don't need a media center, that's why I have a PC, and maybe I could even connect it to the TV if I wanted to.

I don't need a DVD player since I have like 9 of those at home (yes, I'm including a PS2 {which was one of my first three DVD players, I don't remember if it was a computer or a stand-alone first}, 5 computers and 4 standalone players).

Even if I did want a DVD player, I would have been well served with the Nintendo Revolution, since it's gonna be cheaper and it plays DVDs too.

When the good games come out, I'll get one with those "good games", and maybe a few titles that I'm 100% sure are BC. Maybe by then, I won't need to be online to "update" my 360 because all hard drives will come with the BC software. Oh, and by then, maybe the 360s will stop overheating/freezing/dying; honestly, I don't want a little "surprise" when I start it.

This problem has already been taken care of. Only the units in the very first batch had these problems (over the 3% norm). I know many people who have had "surprises" with PS2's along with many other electronic devices. This issue with the 360 has been blown out of proportion and Sony fanboys have been eating it up. If I remember correctly, the PS2 launch had it's problems too.

"I already played Kameo, and I disliked it. When "my turn" was over, I saw somebody play Call of Duty 2, and another one play King Kong, and honestly I'm unimpressed."

You are entitled to your opinion. I'm not much of a platform gamer myself, so I haven't tried Kameo. However King Kong and COD2 have both been awarded very high reviews (9.0 or better) and are both 1st generation multi-platform titles, so naturally the graphics are not indicative of the 360's potential. As for gameplay, the reviews speak for themselves.

So far, it sounds like the main reasons you want a PS3 is for BluRay and BC. BC is only semi-important if you plan on getting rid of your previous console (or it breaks down). Plus, out of all the gamers I know, virtually NONE of them play older games from earlier systems, even if they BOUGHT NES's for that purpose. I personally own several older systems (Atari, NES, N64 and now the Xbox) which I don't play. The only exception is Halo 2 due to multi-player which I play on my 360 just fine. But really, BC isn't NEARLY as important as people make it out to be. Even to the people who gripe and moan about it rarely use it.

A for BluRay, you are making a huge assumption. That is that there is a huge need for a BluRay player. Though I agree that a larger disc format would be nice, it really isn't needed. I don't own any BR movies and it will be quite some time before they become a commonplace. In fact they may not become a commonplace at all. So the BR player of the PS3 may become soley a means for game content. This is of course not bad, but it is also arguable that the 360's compression/decompression techniques and downloadable content will make this technology moot.

Finally, you downplay the 360's media capabilities yet state that if the price is right, you'd buy the largest HDD possible for the PS3... Why then would you need that 180GB storage device? For game saves?

as a guy who has thoroughly enjoyed kameo (it's actually my favorite 360 launch game), i can vouch for it. it has a fantastic strategy element to it with all of the different characters and their crazy abilities. chilla freakin' rules. the first time you grab a troll by the head and beat down a bunch of badguys with him then throw him 1/2 mile away for an instant kill, you'll be hooked.

typically, i'm not a platform guy at all, but it's a bit different. it crosses over into some cool action/rpg stuff.

you should give it a whirl and spend some time with it.

I'm not saying Kameo is the worst POS I've played, but I'm definitely not impressed. If I was gonna buy that game, I would buy it because it's priced cheap, not because I loved it. In fact, it gave me the feeling I played it before, morphing and all that... I don't know where, but it resembles something.

Talk about resembling, today I played COD2 on 360, and man... it's just another FPS. What the hell is wrong with you people? Aren't you tired of FPS? Yes, I would buy it if it was cheap. I love nintendo, but I only bought MP2 because it cost me 20 dollars, not because I like FPS. In fact, I think it is the only FPS I have for gamecube, and the only FPS for PS2 I had was MOH: Frontline, which I think is superior gameplaywise; then again, I need to truly immerse myself in that game, but I'm getting tired of FPS. Once it's cheap (and once I have a 360), I'll be able to tell exactly.

As for the Blu-ray, I'm excited for the movies and for the amount of space you can fit on it. You know why I would get the Hard Drive? Because I'm a tech whore. I mean, I sometimes get equipment for my PCs that I don't max out until several years later - you know, when it becomes a standard... lol (unless I'm really focused on maxing it out).

Sony will always say there's is better like the ps2 they said it was it the big deal and it was crap.

the specs http://hardware.gamespot.com/Story-ST-x-1985-x-x-x nice little chart at the bottom shows the specs of each are = to each other nearly, plus how come most ps3 footage is not ingame ? And the guy thats making MG4 has said that the 360 is more than capable of running it.

Plus think about this its hard enough to make a game for one core never mind 7 or 8 like the ps3 thats why sony has lost most of its contracts for games and more and more company's are moving to MS.knowing sony they will charge by the hour for there version of live

But don't get me wrong i will end up getting one like i have the 360 but they ps3 is not Direct X10 the 360 is and is u see the footage WoW link http://media.putfile.com/CryENGINE2_PDC05-XviD

I hear two things... silence, and a coming retaliation...

I dont know much about specs but I can tell you that the ps3 library will be enormous. Cause sony is way more ambitious on the developer front, the ps2 was atleast twice as hard to develop for and yet it didnt stop the ps2 from squatting the xbox and continues to squat the xbox 360 (of course there is a shortage).

You crapbox fans compare xbox and ps2 with graphics saying xbox is better but with the ps3 and 360 you say the games its all that matters... hipocratical in my opinion.

you worship the 360 and its live like the holy grail of gaming, NONE OF THAT IS NEXT GEN!

RSX, CELL, BluRay, 1080p Dual HDMI, PSP connectivity, Built in Wifi, IP Cam, gigabit ports, in ONE system thats friggin next gen!...

You complain about a Hard Drive, I can dig a bigger hard drive out of my closet then the one in the 360!

MY BIG IF:

If sony comes with its own linux distro with developer/user models xbox will get squatted so hard... anyway think about that... if you think the PSP has cracks and mods, the PS3 will have a massive library of programs free from the linux communities all over.. if they do that sony will increase their support tenfold, and they're wont need to be a Xbox "Arcade" we'll see so much free stuff we wont go to sleep looking for ps3 software. Sony makes bad software and its looking to leverage that by turning to someone else, it would be a whole new market.

anyway if i saw linux distro on the ps3 i'd purposely crap my pants...

SOE would rule!

I get what your saying but sony is sony and have a ablity that comes to them to F**k every one over, but it is the same with mircosoft.

RSX if you search the web u will know that this was a rushed card for the ps3.

Blue ray Hard one to call because there is HD-DVD And one more company making one now u can't say who will win it, you most prob end up been all 3 company's that are making diff versions so they all win and u need 3 seprate players.

but i come to relise that both systems are diffrent Ms have said there's is future proof. i have already heard about loads of companys saying how they can connect to it.

And don't Soe r good i was Mxo fan then sony took over i know how they destroy games stars galaxy's as well.

lets get to the bottom line sony are saying a load of stuff last minute like where going to add a online side to it
