After a disappointing fourth quarter, Intel has reported a 1% loss in worldwide market share to Advanced Micro
Devices - and an 11% loss in U.S. retail market share over the past year. However, these numbers don't include sales
figures from PC sales leader Dell, who sells direct to online consumers and uses Intel chips exclusively.Despite the discouraging news, Intel still has reason to be optimistic in 2006. By the end of the month, their new Yonah dual core mobile chips will be hitting the streets, and we'll see the next gen desktop processor, Conroe, by the end of the year. Apple's transition to Intel dual core technology should also offset AMD's recent surge.
So which processor will be in your next gaming rig?
