funny, I don't own any of those...

Where the hell is FEAR? Glad to see Quake 4 didn't make it tho...that game was a stinker.

So, when will the retail market have to suffer the probably inevitable The Sims:WoW Expansion Pack.
;)

Wow, The Sims - 4 out of 10!
Thesis: girl power in gaming is significant. Discuss

Well, not surprising that Guild Wars is on the list.
King @ Jan 19th 2006 5:33PM
Its funny how people complain that the 360's launch titles where mostly sequels and that PC gaming is far superior to any console. Look at that list....the majority are nothing but sequels and expansion packs.
I do admit that PC gaming can be fun but a good PC game comes out every couple of years and that game will be played to death because there isn't anything else out there.

How does an expansion pack outsell the core game?
Catoo @ Jan 19th 2006 6:01PM
Because the expansion pack CAN actually be bought by people who bought the Sims 2 in 2004 as well... shockingly ;)

You know PC is going into a slump when games released over a year ago are still the highest selling ones. Ah well, the cycle shall be especially vicious this year as consoles dominate for a while.
arrakisman @ Jan 19th 2006 7:01PM
Not to be rude, but you do know this is a list for the year and not for the week? Some of the more recent games will not show up on this list. I know I had to visit 7 stores this holiday to find a copy of CIV 4.

Everyone look at their watches. The Xbox 360's 3 PowerPC Proccessors are becoming more obslete by the minute! But really, The reason why FEAR isnt on the best selling list is that the system requirements are pretty taxing and dont lend themselves to mid-range machines. I dont know about anyone else, but I'm still playing Halo 1 and Half Life 2.
Jago @ Jan 19th 2006 7:29PM
The minimum system requirements are doable on most PCs now I think. Sure it won't look as pretty when running on a high-power rig but you can still enjoy the game and it's story.

#13 is right. My 9800 por went up on my PC a few weeks ago so I threw in a old Radeon 7500. To my surprise Guild Wars still ran pretty good at 1024X768 despite the warning the game game me telling me that I had an unsupported card. Its funny how most premium game have a splash screen from either ATI or Nvidia.
Karmakin @ Jan 19th 2006 9:27PM
Nice to see Guild Wars at #4. Funny, to respond to #13, Guild Wars is the fastest loading game I've seen in years. I double click on the icon, type in my password, and pick a character without any real delay. I can be from desktop to Ascalon within 20 seconds.

Sad to see my favorite game of the year - Civilization 4 is not on the list.
