The Geometry Wars
phenomenon has seeped into the PSP homebrew scene with the release of Vector Infector. The PSP version (in
beta phase) of Vector Infector is actually a port of the PC original, which is still in
development, but will eventually be available as freeware later this year. The game is indeed inspired by Bizarre's
popular Xbox Live Arcade title, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. And while the experience is hindered by the lack
of a second analogue nub, it shouldn't hold back hordes of PSP owners from downgrading—or never upgrading (even for
the Syphon Filter beta). So why hasn't Sony jumped at the opportunity to provide XBLA-esque games to PSP owners? There's even a space for these titles in the "Memory Stick" location—under the "Game" menu within the PSP's "Home" interface—but as of today, it's collecting dust. There's obviously a huge draw for simple-addictive-cheap games, especially in the portable gaming market. So what gives?
