The look on his face either says "I think I'm cooler than you"(reality check: pro-gaming is not cool) or "When you're out could you get me some laxatives"
Also anyone who puts a number in the middle of their alias is an instant dork.

bah pro gamers. I could take him (im sure others can as well), but I dont know anything about becoming a pro gamer or local competitions and whatnot.
I see professional sports players and I dont get angry because I know they have the skill and I suck compared to them in sports. But then I see these "professional" gamers and get mad because I know I could very well beat them. Ive placed #1 on leaderboards for just about evey game I get serious about. I know I could do good in these competitions but dont know where to begin. Its not like when your a kid your signed up to a local sports team by your parents and talent is recognized from there. Its not really common knowledge on how to become a professional gamer.
I guess its not that big a deal anyway. I plan to have a job in the future making $450 000 in 6 years timespan that I would get from my education (1 year left and im done university)
BTW, that guys expression makes him look like a dick. he could give a smile out. he reminds me of "lucas" from the movie "the wizard" lol

I think pro-gaming is complete poop. It isn't like real athlete stuff, there the variables of your favorite sport are always in flux, and it is literally one man against another. In pro gaming, the person who figured out how to break the games system (of which they are all breakable, as they are only simulations and thus prone to breakage) is the one who wins.
Take halo2 for instance, ive seen people break the map and do wicked sick jumps to get to areas the designers never intended them to through a glitch in the map or collision. These guys are so good cause they exploit this. This has nothing to do with skill, its an exploitation, sure you can say the guy was smart enough to find this glitch and exploit it, but thats stupid as well as anyone who then learns of the glitch can exploit it the same way.
I saw fatality play at e3, I wasn't impressed. Sure he was good at ut2k4, but I mean, if thats all I played id be good at it too. Now what WOULD impress me, if he can come to my house..tell me to pick any multiplayer game off my shelf in my library, and kick my ass at it, then I would be impressed (assuming the game he beats me at he has never played before).
oh well this turned into a rant, in summation: Companies are not paying for the skill of said "cyber-atheleteS" they are paying for marketability.

Man, I'm, like, so awesome at street ball. I'm sure, if I went pro, I could so beat Kobe Bryant. I mean, it's just practise, and I got talent, man!
And, come'on, Kobe is, like, only good at basketball. Give me a break! How lame is that? How can you call yourself a pro-athelete by being good at just one game? Dude, what would really, like, impress me, and stuff, is that if he came to my hood, and like, picked up a sport, like frisbee gold, or something, and beat my ass on it. Then I'd be, like, yea, he's, like, cool and shit.

THis guy doesn't move me one way or another, pro-gaming should not be called an athletic sport. What is the reason I say this you may ask? The reason is this, an athelete is somebody that when not playing that particular sport could push his body to other physically strengths. For exmaple Kobe could run farther or pick up another sport and be some what capable at that, somebody like Terrel Owens(yes I know he is a dick) can play basket ball or run a 3 minute mile. My point is you take the Game controler away from this guy and what do you got? It isn't like chess were you can make tactical decisions.
What I really fear is This kid trying to make a new breed of "JOCK" gamers who think cause they work out they are some how superior or cooler than the average gamer. Because I can only imagine the type of violence that will happen in the school yard cause of this. I mean he has that smug look on his face like he conquered the world he made 450k in one year and Shaq makes that taking a dump, who should look more smug, damn I didn't even know who the hell you were till I seen this joystiq post.
Man I really hope He doen't try to Pick up women with his micro, I mean I just see nothing but badness from this.

I could care less if the guy makes money playing games, but I agree its hard to call him the best player because as someone said before, getting into pro gaming isn't as easy as Little League signups as it isn't easily accessible to everyone.
Let's see how much hes making in 10 years, I'm sure he'll be wishing he got an education.

Why yes, I do believe that is a Slim Jim coming out his ear. Fancy that, not only is he a pro-gamer, but he is also a meat tree.
I guess I'll just say it; this kid looks like he needs the snot beat out of him, and not in a video game world arena. Sure, I would be smug if I was bringing in 400K, but I wouldn't have Slim Jims growing out my ear.

I met Fatality at e3 last year and talked with him for a few minutes and he was a really cool kid. He's not just good a ut2k4 but at all FPS games which of course are all very similar. He's won Quake, Doom 3, Painkiller, CS tournaments and he doesn't win by exploits. I've seen him play and it was unlike anything I had ever seen in my life.
Calling him a tool? What does that mean..? He's the one making the money.

Pro-Gaming is not about spoliting. You've been playing too much Halo, your brain has gone noob. Now back to the topic, Fatal1ty seems like a nice enough guy, thats just a bad picture.

Fatality is making money in his 20's what some people are/aren't making in their 30's -- doing what he loves to do best, which is play games.
Do what you love, and you'll never have to work a day in your life -- I guarantee it.
"bah pro gamers. I could take him (im sure others can as well), but I dont know anything about becoming a pro gamer or local competitions and whatnot."

It's idiots like you that feed competitive gaming ciruits. Leaderboards? I pray to god you're not talking about Xbox Live, because beating people online actually means little. If you think you're good, get off your ass and meet fatality in an actually tournament and take his money. Don't know how to get started you say? The internet is your freind. Whatever game you like to play, there's more than likely a community devoted to taking it seriously somewhere. Once you do find them, you'll more than likely come to realize you suck at the games you thought you were good at just because you never played anyone outside your own circle of friends.
Shane:
Your post has to be some of the most illogical BS I've read in quite sometime.

God you're an idiot. What would that prove? Fatality's claim to fame isn't for beating people in Mario Strikers, it's for beating people in FPSs. That's like saying you wouldn't be impressed with Michael Jordan's basketball game if he couldn't beat you in cricket.
You people are a bunch of hateful nobodies looking to legitimize your jealously through fecitious social commentary. Enjoy making your fun while these people make money off of what you do to waste time.

I think the comments show the IQ of a percentage gamers in general. They display why you cannot play online without some idiots that have no skills and talk crap the entire time.
Don't get me wrong, I consider myself a gamer too. The fact is horrific though, that, there is little-to-no respect among alot of gamers.
The other half of the ignoramous comments are probably due to jealousy, as has already been mentioned.
Props to this gentlemen, who not only has probably the most dreamy job in the world, but also, as has been mentioned by James, slaps Jared upside the head and teabags his face.

So, does that mean we'll see this palooka's joystck in the pages of Blueboy or Playgirl? (I'm betting on the former)

Immediate News Release – January 22, 2006
Video Game Site Targets Industry Critic Jack Thompson
The violent video game industry has again shown its hypocrisy regarding the First Amendment, as another game industry web site has incited its enthusiasts to target Miami video game critic Jack Thompson with criminal threats, harassment, and Bar complaints.
The video game “news” site is GamePolitics, located on the web at www.gamepolitics.com. It is owned and operated by Dennis McCauley, who is a freelance contributor of video game articles to the Philadelphia Inquirer. In November, when major book publisher Tyndale House released Thompson’s new book, Out of Harm’s Way, GamePolitics direct-linked its crazed gamer fan base to Thompson’s book at Amazon.com, which resulted in scores of fake one-star “reviews” of the book alleging Thompson is a homosexual pedophile and so forth. False and defamatory assertions about Thompson’s fictionalized sexual perversion were first made by Rockstar Games at its company web site in order to encourage criminal harassment of Thompson, in possible violation of federal statutes prohibiting such targeting. This is how this industry defends its “First Amendment right” to market adult games to kids—by terrorizing its critics.
Late last week, GamePolitics ran its own bizarre take on the suicide of an American “hard-core gamer” who was addicted to the ultra-violent Metal Gear Solid 2 game. Thompson noted in posts at GamePolitics that this was not the first tragedy linked to that game, as Thompson had authored an August 2004 an op-ed in the Washington Times linking that game to two Columbine-style incidents, one of which ended in suicide. Thompson also noted at the site his representation of a mother whose son Shawn Woolley committed suicide while playing a role-playing game, Everquest. That suicide was the centerpiece of a disturbing story on video game addiction CBS’ 48 Hours, which also reported the addiction of author/actor Ben Stein’s son, Tommy, to Everquest
GamePolitics “fans” immediately struck back last week, targeting Thompson with obscene posts, criminally harassing phone calls and emails, and threats to file ethics complaints with The Florida Bar if Thompson did not “apologize” for identifying the danger of such games. Houston-area police arrested and jailed a 16-year-old boy two months ago for threatening to kill Thompson after being incited to do so by another site.
Thompson has now alerted the Philadelphia office of the FBI to this latest targeting of him in order to infringe on his First Amendment right to address the dangers of violent, interactive murder simulators. Thompson has been relentlessly, criminally targeted for this criminal abuse since he appeared twice last year on CBS’ 60 Minutes regarding his wrongful death lawsuit in Alabama arising out of a teen’s training on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to kill two cops and a dispatcher. That case is steaming toward trial, having survived all motions to dismiss by Take-Two/Rockstar’s Capitol Hill lobbyist/law firm Blank Rome, which has massive financial and political ties to Bush-Cheney and the Republican National Committee.
Dennis Miller, popular comedian and political satirist, nailed the bizarre agenda and hypocrisy of the ACLU, and in doing so explained what is being done by the video game industry and its enthusiasts to Thompson, who is a Christian:
“The ACLU will sue to drive nativity scenes out of the town square, while suing to protect the ‘right’ of a local crack addict to have sex with a sheep in that nativity scene.”
Extremist First Amendment absolutists are attempting to drive people of faith from the public square, and Jack Thompson is not going to let them get away with it.

I got the gamertag 'Fatal1ty' on xbox live and tried to sell it to Jonathan (the guy in the picture with the meat treat in his ear) so I could make a quick buck. But he registered the gamertag 'Fatality' instead. Who would have thought he would be smart enough to be able to spell Fatality seeing as he does no homework so he can "train" on the couch.

My friend, Cheesehazard, used to beat that little bitch's ass with a belt at Jedi Outcast. Bet you never heard him talking about that one. Yet, there's still no Cheesehazard signature motherboards. My take is the kid has some rich parents who pay for the publicity so he can feel just like his pro gaming hero, yugioh.

The kid is not undefeated I know quite a few people that have knocked him out pretty early in tournaments including Q3. You just don't hear about those because it wouldn't be good for his image.
