Well if
EA can't make a MLB game due to the exclusivity
deal signed by Take 2 Interactive, then let there be college baseball. At the time of writing, the Xbox version had
a slightly higher average ranking of 74% compared with the PS2's 72%. Here's how the reviews are turning out:
- IGN 87% - "All nitpicking aside, MVP 06 is a great baseball game. Load and Fire, which will surely be imitated in future baseball titles to come, is the most fun and satisfying hitting system to date."
- EGM 67% (Print) - "Now don't misunderstand, 06 sports two very welcomed innovations: right analog stick batting and throwing. But the problem here - and it's a biggie - is the execution of these new mechanics. Using the stick to chuck the ball around the diamond feels quite natural, yet the throwing meter doesn't react fast enough when turning double plays, and even perfect tosses force the first baseman off the bag too often."
- Team Xbox 79% - "It hurts. No matter how you slice it, the lack of an official pro license (in a sport where the following of the pro level is strong) for this year’s MVP holds this title back a bit."
