Kizza,

So I take it you're not a fan of Nintendo? Which is sort of odd, because if you read your post over again, you'd realized that there are a few contradictions. You say it's about the games. The games is why you buy the systems, right? But yet a game that is not in the main series as RE4 is not good enough for you? “then finally Gamecube got a sequel that was not even really part of the series.” I thought it was about the games? So why would it matter if it was an off-shoot? Are you invariantly trying to say that Nintendo is not good enough to get a “real game” in a premier series? Last time I checked they ported it over to the PS2. Why cause of money, yes I agree with you… because it would sell more also being on the PS2.

"Have your favourite,.... but don't be complete morons about it... acting all calous & hard hoping this one fails & that one dies." And you are not doing the same with such statements as "Wait till the things come out, then come on here & talk 12yr old smack, because your revolution gives you no satisfaction....... whislt I am playing the best games on my PS3 along with 150 million others." WHY NOT wait for the systems to come out BEFORE stating all this negativity towards Nintendo? You hate the fact that people are making accusations before seeing all systems. But yet, why is it that you can make accusations yourself and not others? Wouldn't that be fair? Why state 150 million will be playing Sony's system. That is basically saying you think Sony will succeed and the Revolution will be a failure?? True? If not.. why bother throwing numbers out there in the first place? And numbers that are clearly…. Should we say.. exaggerated?

So what constitutes "Next Gen" for you? Apparently it's better graphics.. I am assuming here. "I'm buying next gen, for next gen, not for a gimmicky controller & duck hunt." So the controller itself has nothing to do with Next Gen? I always thought Next Gen. was something that is not currently introduced in this generation. So therefore everything is included, such as superior graphics, and interface, but why not, a "gimmicky controller," as you put it? If you look at the evolution of the other systems within each company, then you can clearly say they are Next Gen. If Sony and Microsoft thinks graphics are everything and that's what constitute Nex Gen, than that's fine. Nothing wrong with that. I'll be buying a PS3 anyways. But what if Nintendo thinks that a system that is only about 2-3 times more powerful than the Gamecube with a "relovuntionary" controller is Next Gen? Then who are we to argue with that?

"I especially love how ninty fanboys expresss that its all about fun & are basically saying that no other consoles offer any fun..." I think we have reached a saturation point in what we think is "fun." Sure MGS4 looks amazing. And so will every game on the PS3. But it's about the fun factor. I bought FF4 for the GBA the other day and not once did I say the graphics suck on this thing while playing it. Hopefully, in my opinion, the Revolution will give us something new in how we play our games.

"So what, at worst the actual gameplay in killzone will not be a asthetically pleasing as the demo shown at e3, but aren't you nintendo fanboys the ones who always groan that graphics don't matter?" Yes graphics don't matter, gameplay does. But why give KillZone as an example? It has always been touted as a "Halo-Killer" and has never lived up to that reputation. Why is that? Maybe cause the gameplay sucks? Just a thought. Sure it will still look good, but lets be fair. It hasn't lived up to the hype because it's just not well put together. There's a reason why Halo sells millions of copies on a system with a user base that is significantly lower. Great games will always sell, and this transcends to all platforms.

"Comon fanboys, theres more to life out there than trying to predict the success & fate of these companies." This I totally agree with. Too many people put stock into who will win this, who will win that. I could care less. Just give me a few damn good games on any system and I'll be content. But again, with your anti-Nintendo statements and not very flattering views about Nintendo’s system running all over your post… do you think you contradicted yourself here? Which leads me to the final thought… "Basically a lot of fanboys will buy revolutions & hardcore gamers will buy 360's & PS3's. Those are the facts." And you have a way of supporting these "facts." Or is it an opinion? I mean you say “hardcore gamers.” There are lot of different definitions of "hardcore gamers." So someone that downloads 10-20 old games are not hardcore? Last time I checked.. they could be.. I remember being at a friend's house and this guy has all these games emulated on his computer and my friend said to me.. that is a really hardcore stuff. See my point?

That’s all I have to say. There’s probably many contradictions in mine also. But hey, that’s fine. It happens when you type something this long. The only thing I ask is just be fair to all the systems. Fanboys will say what they want to say. But hopefully this time next year, I’ll be sitting back and playing RE5 on my PS3 and in between that I’ll be waving my Revolution controller in the air like a moron, and having fun.

I think everybody know that this poll isn't representitive of the market as a whole but even if Joystiq only represents a "serious gamer" demographic, in contrast to, say, a Madden-buying, Halo-playing mouth breather demographic, Nintendo is looking to improve its fortunes.

I think any serious game hobbyist ought to be very interested in the Revolution.

8000-9000 votes is alot for a poll, most reuters polls are only from 1000-2000 people and offer upto +/- 2% 19 out of 20 times.

sadly this poll is easily tampered :( and I dont think there are even that many people who read this site... maybe there are, they definately dont post though.

Joystiq should require users to sign up then sign in this would elleviate many of the problems we have right now (people stealing others name to write garbage posts) and they could keep a more dedicated group of people. I know I would sign up for it, especially if it meant I didnt need to log into my email everytime I wanted to respond to a blog.

True. I'm guessing most voters were double-dippers (or more).

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if the number of double voters was relatively low. I mean check out how many people voted for this poll:
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/10/poll-results-best-zelda-game/

I
mean that poll is by nature not as competitive or going to attract as much attention as this most recent one and yet it had over 5000 voters.

Joystiq polls do not allow double dipping. Also, even if they did, Sony and MS fans could have done the same thing.

In practice, Nintendo is not a graphics don't matter company. Resident Evil 4 is still the best looking game of the current gen, and the GameCube clearly has the guts to outpace the PS2 and stay up there with the Xbox.

The Revolution will have the ability to do several times what Resident Evil 4 puts out, which to me is near incomprehensible. We have nothing to fear on the graphics end from Nintendo. It's not like we have even been using the GameCube in all its guts and glory by accessing 480p. (Hold down the B button at startup when connected to a compatible TV.)

What Nintendo is doing is saying the defining feature of the next gen will be control over graphics. That is what will win it for them against Sony and MS, so that is what they focus on. Also, not every game put out for the system needs incredible graphics to be a mind-blowing game. Tetris was not a pretty graphics game, but it sold millions and millions of copies and is about to do millions more with the Nintendo DS WiFi version. Revolution will give you access to many layers of graphics and gameplay, from 8-bit level to things we've never seen or imagined possible before. Wait til you see what their new 3D polygon diffusion techniques can do...that Sony and MS can't because Nintendo has the patent.

Just don't expect graphics to be the focus, as that is expensive to develop and does not always best suit the gameplay.

PS2 debuted at $300 and is now down to $150, with used consoles selling for as much as $129 and as little as $35 to $50. PS3 will debut at $400 to $500 and will not sell anywhere near as many units as PS2. It will be two years before it gets even to the $300 starting price the PS2 had. I think Sony overestimates the price the world is willing to pay for what is a marginal upgrade to gameplay at best, especially in the face of a cheaper, more innovative Nintendo Revolution System. Some people will pay the price, but I have to agree that Nintendo's strategy is putting them in a far better position this time around.

Last time, the equation was something like this:

Nintendo GameCube equals PS2 - DVD player + more horsepower that you can't see from looking at the box - $50.

This time, the equation will be more like this:

Nintendo Revolution equals PS3 - marginal horsepower that you can't see from looking at the box + innovative human interface that is the closest thing yet to Virtual Reality and being "in the game" - over $200. Also, Nintendo has WiFi and DVD this time around, and five generations of backward game classic compatibility. Sony will have two, none of which can be downloaded out of the box (no hard drive included, too big.)

Blu-Ray is meaningless other than as an HD storage capacity medium. Blu-Ray will not beat HD as a mass market medium, and it is possible neither HD-DVD nor Blu-Ray will become popular. UMD is good for PSP, but is far from Universal. HD-DVD will win as the standard media format (if either does) because Bill Gates will push it for PC's, most of the movie studios are behind HD-DVD, and it is supported by multiple manufacturers, not just Sony. In the later years of this gen, Blu-Ray will become a major drag on Sony system sales because of what it adds to the PS3 price ($100 plus) relative to Xbox 360 and Revolution's DVD ($5.)

Good luck Sony. You're screwing yourself and you know it. For all we know, the PS3 may never come out, because it has so many overheating bugs (rumored.)

...again like always we have Kizza to make statements that he can't backup and has to resort to insulting everyone who doesn't agree with him (or like a certain company.)

My proof:

"nerdy, faggity, extremist nintendo fanboys"

Funny how the guys who run Joystiq don't seem to follow their own rules either.

"inappropriate or purely promotional comments may be removed."

Last time I checked, calling someone "faggity" was innappropriate.

dont worry those people who think rev will be the second system ur soon going to be wrong. EXAMPLE: PSP and DS if u had both most ppl wud say psp was ur main system but soon the amazingness of psp fades away when u find the games downgraded wersion of ps2. then there is a glimmer of hope the DS!! Its so magnificent with its amazing games leaving the psp 2 dust. The same will happen for revolution and the other consoles.

Everytime i play an fps games on my gameconsoles it feels ridiculous, i get depressed playing it because everytime i play it all i imagine is how good this game would be on the rev and DS. U get me.

I think that this poll represent more what people want to have, rather than what they will actually purchase. Think about it: $300.00 for a Revolution, $400.00 for an Xbox 360, and $500.00 for a PS3 equals $1200.00 worth of game systems with no games. Unless you’ve got lots of money to spend or plan on playing downloadable demos for awhile, I guess it’s okay, but when you take into account extra controllers, games and accessories, then the costs could easily be twice that much.

Like I was saying earlier, I’d like to see what people have decided to purchase this time next year as a comparison. As the development cycle of the next generation systems continue over the years, I’m sure that many people will own each system due to accounted time for people to save up and system price drops, but it will be a definitely a different situation during launch. Sony and Nintendo will need to counter Microsoft’s early launch by outselling their user base during their launches. It will be interesting to see how they will do this especially since their system launches are so close together. It’s exciting to see how many fanboy/fangirls will be holding out for their favorite systems! I love console wars!

lol, kizza is hilarious. You get so worked up over little stuff like this that you can't even type properly. If you were writting this on a piece of paper I am certain you would be able to see the spit marks all over the page from your rage.

You are the very definition of what non-gamers think games make people violent and immature. Go pass a tennis ball for a kidney stone.
