Make your own PSP stand using a toaster and $.25
This series
of photos shows how Flickr user JavaMoose created his own stylish PSP stand with a little heat, a little ingenuity, and
about $.25 worth of orange plastic. Right on!
When asked how to create one, JavaMoose explained:
"Well, you can use a strip-heater like I did - or just heat up the plastic with a hot-air gun (a hairdryer usually doesn't cut it) and make the bends (edge of a wooden board is perfect). It is really very simple to do, and only three bends to make. If you use a hot-air gun - keep it moving. If you stay in one spot too long you can burn the plastic. Hell, if you wanted to do it on the super-cheap - use a toaster (slot kind, not oven kind). Just hold the plastic a half-inch above the toast-slot. You'll feel it when it is soft enough to bend..."

does anyone know what it is (or how it is) that he put on that analog nub. That almost looks like its off of a ps2 controller

isn't this a little dangerous? going way back to secondary school a mate of mine was burning holes through his plastic ruler with a heated paper clip, the science teacher caught him and told him that inhaling burning plastic fumes causes lung cancer.

Those desktop calendars that you tear pages off of are PERFECT for a PSP stand. Mine is on one right now at work doing a slideshow.

The fumes of PVC plastic are very very harmful.
Do this in a ventilated area.

If you don't want to do any heating and all that, you could always do what I did and make a stand out of Lego. Lots safer, easier, and more fun!

I would pay twenty times that to make the thing more comfortable to hold while gaming... Cool system, awkward button/joystick placement.

@ gob: I made one out of lego, it holds my phone, ipod and psp, and has the chargers built into the bottom!

Yeah, I use a day-by-day calendar stand for my DS. It's outstanding for stylus-heavy games.

I have a similar problem as #8 where I find the controller button placements and sizes to be a bit small and awkward for my hand/fingers. This makes playing my DS sometimes annoying. However, the great games keep me on the system longer than I want to be.
Anyways, this is a great simple mod. Where do you buy special plastic like this though? Its orange and not just plain you know....home depot?
