Mark Green discusses 24: The Game
Adapting from the small screen
to...well...the small screen, Mark Green and his team at SCEE Cambridge (Primal) are attempting to stay as
faithful to 24 as possible. 24: The Game is looking, to, he hopes, capture the feeling of the TV show
(and yes, it might indeed take somewhere around 24 hours to complete).Eurogamer sat down with Mark Green to talk about the title. Expect multi-angle shots, an immersive interrogation system (although not as graphic as the TV show). Green notes that the key aspects to making include "the multiple story arcs, the interweaving story threads, the double-bluffs, dead-ends and U-turns, the variety of activities," but not adhering to the real-time portion of the TV show - hopefully, though, they can retain some real-time aspect - Indigo Prophecy pulled it off really well.
While very interesting, some of his comments made us a little nervous. The game does feature voice work from all the principal players on the TV show, but Green elaborates on an incident where Kiefer Sutherland refused to record a line of dialogue, stating "There's no way these words are coming out of my mouth" - a funny story, but is that indicative of the rest of the script? What we want to know is how did the line compare to, say, any of the number of lines Kiefer agreed to utter in The Cowboy Way.
The game will arrive on store shelves February 28th in the US, followed by a Europe release on March 17th.

This makes me sad. I love 24, but sold my ps2 about a year ago. Maybe I can borrow one from a friend to play this.

I really wish this were coming out for the GameCube... My two PS2's are both long since broken (no fault of mine) and I have no desire to buy another one, let alone a more expensive PS3 that is likely to have even more problems. 24 is an amazing show, and I expect the game to be very well thought out. Even an Xbox version would have been nice, in case I buy a 360 to go with my Rev.

Sutherland IS an executive producer on the TV show, so perhaps he felt the dialog wouldn't be something Jack Bauer would say. I thought the story was scripted by one of the writers on the show...hmmm

There's so much to joke about with this one, starting with the fact that the game clock had damn well better slow down whenever you get into one of the magic CTU timewarping SUVs. :)
Otherwise, they'll have some show-accurate mission that requires you to drive across LA in 20 minutes and people will wind up returning the game in droves.

I just hope the story (who cares about some corny lines - the real show has dozens of them) and the characters are tight and well-developed. I'm definately picking this game up if it scores well in reviews.

I'll tell you what the line was NOT:
"Where is the bomb? WHERE IS THE BOMB??!!"
And
"Who do you work for? WHO DO YOU WORK FOR??!!"

I played the demo for this game. It's fucking terrible. It's a poorly-controlled Splinter Cell clone with a terrible camera, terrible voice acting, and dumb gameplay.
Seriously, get your hands on the demo. This game is too awful to NOT experience. I laughed at the demo many times, and there wasn't a joke to be found in it.

Well if they can polish it up,maybe it'll replace the 007 series [luv Bond-I have all the games!] Reason is,there is not really a Bond replacement it seems -I don't like that new bozo,he looks like he's on an enormous ego trip [full of himself] Alas, Sean baby has got one foot in Tombstone Manor and Pierce is prancing around in tights-the big foo-foo!

I really hope they don't blow this one. Not only could it work great as a video game, but the involvement they've had with the creative team is really unparalleled.
Then again, its been delayed several times, so I'm thinking they're "tightening up the graphics" et al.

Can't wait for this one; it certainly looks promising! I have all three systems [4 with the 360] but I certainly hope they bring this one out on the Gamecube as the cube controller seems to be at least in my opinion most ideally suited for these type of action games. You can definitely sign me up for 24-sweet!
