Nintendo DS hits 3 million connections, 500,000 users
According to Nintendo UK general manager
David Yarnton, the Nintendo Worldwide Wi-Fi connection service has hit 3 million connections, which translates into
around 500,000 actual users. A lot of the credit for this high adoption rate can no doubt be attributed to the
successes of Mario Kart DS (a title which 45% of users went online with in the
first week) and Animal Crossing: Wild World. The announcement, which took place at London's Science Museum, also included news of a 1000 extra Wi-Fi hotspots across Britain. With the long anticipated (Wi-Fi enabled) Metroid Prime Hunters just around the corner, the future is looking very bright for wireless gaming on Nintendo's flagship handheld.

4 player Metroid wont be as fun online as 1600 players all on one huge map running around slashing each other up in a collosal war.
4 just seems to small, though it's a good number for a LAN I guess.. seeing as I only know a few people with a nintendo DS.
more bots would have been appreciated but never mind, I think it will be my only criticism of the game.

It took Microsoft 18 months to get 1 million users online. Nintendo is halfway there is less than 2 months. They must be doing something right.

Yeah, they're doing something right. They're not charging for the service. Although silver "Live" service is free it doesn't offer much other than XBLA.

it's interesting, this mans interviewing skills are terrible. he keeps drifting off the point.
he mentions that the nintendo online service is growing rapidly in ireland. um, where exactly?

So each user has only connected 6 times. Sounds like a big hit to me. Let's keep comparing it to Xbox live shall we.
