I dont like DS Lite at all, I wanted to get it for a while but I like my original DS better... And I agree with KingBigos I think the The redesign was pointless... Basically the only difference is the bright ass screen and the size ... oh yea and the smaller speakers.... Oh and what iv ben wondering for a while is why any one would waste another 80 bucks on the ds lite just because it looks cooler, I mean I bought my ds for the games and the graphics not because it looked "cool"

i totally disagree with u Sikx, i own a ds lite, and my friend owns a ds phat, the speakers actually make the same amout of sound between the two, it seems like that the ds phat has bigger speakers, but they are actually the same size but with more holes in the ds, also, they have enhanced the LED screen so that it's brighter, but reduced the stress from looking at it for a long time. Also, in canada, the price is now a 10 dollar difference only, and when u buy the ds lite, it comes with a upper and lower screen protector, this has been going on for about 5
months now.

Also, for the ds lite, there are three colours, pink, white , and onyx(black). And now the mic. (microphone) is now place in the centre of the console(on the centre of the fold), so that u can just talk straight into the console, instead of shifting ur head.

dis-agree. u will probli think im crazzy but i think dsis r better. 1.- ds lites have pointy edges, that digs into your hands-dosent feel ...very...COMFRDABLE.2.- TO SMALL.3.-if u swet while playing, that thaings gonna slip outof your hands. 4.- so who cares if the screens brighter that just means the battery life wont last verry long. and finaly 4.- the signal srength wont go as far as reglar dsis

That's good. The original was so unfathomably hideous that I refused to buy it.

comparison.

I only need a few more dollars until I get enough for a dsPHAT. I hope the price is lower or the same for a DSlite.

I love it. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Oh, and I find it very cool how it resembles the revolution controller sort of. Also, the brighter screen will be nice. After getting my GameBoyMicro, I've realized how dark my DS screens are. And I'm hoping it will feel more natural for my hands with this new version.

This being introduced right when I realize how much I want, nay, need to play mariokart online? Quite the perfect timing, says I. I'm getting one, unless the price drop on the older models is so severe as to warrant getting those instead.

Compared to the PSP, the new DS is sexy. Compared to the PSP's games, DS games are fun.

Its definitely an improvement, but it doesn't look to be enough of an improvement to risk pissing off the millions of people who've had the DS for less than a year.

And the PSP is still slicker.

Risk pissing people off? I guess thats why Apple hasn't been doing so well with the iPod upgrades... Oh wait.

2 observations and a hope -

1. It's even more "Game & Watch-esque" than before, and I mean that to be a good thing.

2. If anyone has experienced the improved screens of the last relese of the SP, you know that the screens are so sharp, bright, and vivid that it even makes the DS screens look crappy by comparison. if this is the technology that has gone into the DS Lite, it's going to be a very dramatic improvement.

I hope they give it the same sort of clear plastic layer over the impregnated color that Apple uses for iBooks, the dull white does not seem to imply that to be the case, but it's hard to make out if you look at the edges if there isn't something similar going on.

I guess I'll find out when I pull my import out of the box in early April.

My guess is the screens will be as good as the ones in the new SP and Micro. Even if they're not, I'll definitely be trading in my current DS when they come out, if only for the smaller size (for more pocket comfort).

Well I definatly like the new design. I don't think I will buy it though, I'm still happy with my fat DS

Also it didn't seem to adjust my two main problems with the DS, 1.The screens are still too far apart, and 2. I think the bottom corners should be more rounded so it feels more comfortable

But thats just my opinion

As I've said before, it looks good. Until I see it in the plastic I can't tell wether it will be worth updating to over my current (silver) DS.

However I am a fan of white for this/next gen - Black and silver have been done! Though I'm sure Ninty will release it in a variety of colours in due course.

An alien green DS-Lite with metroid prime hunters pack is probably on the cards too ;)

I think the greatest thing about this design is the touch screen. Notice how it is raised against the rest of the buttons. Also, it doesn't seem to sit inside the case like the old design. This means no crumbs getting in that little wedge, and may even mean a firm and resilient new touch screen.

Yay!

Thank goodness it's called the DS lite and not the DS Pocket. The abbreviation DSP would have been very bad.

Realize what this official release means: the design on the Revolution has been finalized, and likely has been since it was first shown at E3 '05. This design looks exactly like the mockup shown at E3, and is surely made to match it perfectly. Nintendo usually sticks with their released product designs. The original DS was only redesigned before launch due to public outcry: "it's ugly!"

BTW, Nintendo only did this because I bought a MK DS last month. Every time I buy something, an improved version is released immediately. Therefore, I claim full credit for the DS lite ;)

It's nice to see some ds news in January it really was a pretty bulky yet inovated platform.

Alot of people would like to see it in one of these colors.

I have to admit, it does look better.

But if I were a existing DS owner, I'd be pissed that they introduced a better looking model that makes the old one look like crap.

I like the look of the new model, but untill I see it in person then i'll decide whether or not ill sell my ds for the exact same thing, but better! Also, they seem have made it look like it matches the Revolution and it would be something Apple would design. Also, the D-pad and the its buttons looks more comfrontable, becuase the one right now seemed too non-pushy, lol.

It's obvious that I'm completely freakin loco here, but I think the old version looks better. I've hated that damn ceramic white scheme since the very first iPod. And really, I have trouble holding on to my 'phat' ds, I'm really wondering how comfortable the new one is going to be.
