Well, it was a nice ride while it lasted. It wasn't but a week ago that DS Fanboy predicted that a redesigned DS wouldn't be announced and that we wouldn't be buying it until next year. And just last night we reported on an interview in which Nintendo's UK boss stated that a redesign was sometime off. We even had the gall to tell the world "we told you so!" Oh, the sheer audacity!
So what was our next post immediately following our chest-thumping "DS redesign pushed way back" article? Yep, you guessed it... The very next post was Nintendo's very real DS redesign announcement. Our prediction was crushed and I couldn't believe how wrong I was. But, it was one of those rare times when you're actually glad to be wrong. I've been looking forward to a redesign since the original was first shown off. Suffice it to say, I want that little dual-screen wonder. Very nice.
But what to make of Nintendo's role in all of this? The complete snowing that they gave the industry with their constant barrage of rumor and denial is quite eye-opening. Someone over in Nintendo's marketing department has awakened... and they are doing a pretty damn good job. It makes you wonder what kind of game is afoot regarding the Revolution? Or the next Gameboy?
You've won this battle, Reggie. But fool me once...
