Then they should be homebrewing for the DS. The DS has had 1 change since the DS came out, and that was circumvented months ago.

The remote control apps for the DS are very promising. Controlling your PC from your couch is awesome.

I think that this will be impossible in the new versions of the firmware. Correct me if I wrong.

Another glitch could always make it possible for future versions of the firmware. Maybe one already exists that has yet to be found. I wouldn't count out firmware 2.60+ just yet.

I like homebrew stuff, and the emulators are cool, but they're hard to get working and tend to be buggy as hell. And a lot of the homebrew functionality has been officially implemented by Sony's firmware upgrades, so I don't get why people love the homebrew stuff so much. Its cool for programmers who want to mess around with it, but other than that I think it really has a limited appeal.

I got two PSPs. One is at 2.6, and one is at 1.5, and guess which one I use more? I totally give credit to Sony for making the firmware upgrades appealing, and not just anti-hack updates.

(Saving up for a Location free base now) :D

This could be good news for Sony. GTA:LCS sales might sky-rocket due to this. Okay, maybe not, but I wasn't really interested in getting the game until this announcment.

Just a little reply to #5--why don't you find homebrew interesting? Geez, I have a 2.00 psp that I haven't downgraded because I wanted the web browser, but I fail to see what great features Sony has added in 2.6. RSS feeds don't mean much with a webbrowser. Streaming music is cool-ish, but I can get that from PSPRadio, which works under 2.00; hell, I could go to the trouble of opening up ports on my firewall and run a shoutcast server from the itunes out with itunesremote and have access to my music collection from anywhere with my psp. I don't think you can do that with Sony's stuff. LocationFree TV would be cool if it didn't cost $250 bucks for the hardware AND disable my homebrew. I like having SNES, NES and Genesis games on my PSP. That's the stuff I grew up with and I can carry it around in my pocket. That's half the reason I bought my PSP.
Oh and remote control of a pc makes the DS so great? I could control my PC with VNC if I wanted to downgrade. I can control itunes or Windows Media Player. I just fail to see what you mean by saying homebrew isn't that great. Or that Sony has added "great" features since the web browser.

I completely agree with James Hare #10 (and I do the samethings, with the addition of carrying around the PC-Engine/Turbo Grafix 16 emulator ... Bonk's Revenge is too much fun).

2.60 does run the GTA: LCS Exploit, I'm using edisoncarter's Cheat Device on 2.60 with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Seems to me it's been cracked.

The GTA exploit was actually discovered by Edison Carter , and 2.6 can run the exploit/cheat device it just cant run homebrew yet , all it would of taken is a two minute look on pspupdates to see this
