Due
to the continuing efforts of Fanjita, some homebrew and emulation applications can now be used on PSPs with firmware
v2.01–2.50. The eLoader takes advantage of the GTA: LCS exploit, which
was previously discovered by—who else—Fanjita. That said, a copy of the game is necessary to run these
applications. The fact that this latest exploit relies on a glitch in a game rather than a weakness in the firmware suggests that Sony's security wall is growing impenetrable. Firmware v.2.60, which prevents the GTA: LCS exploit, has yet to be cracked. Will it? Will homebrew enthusiasts throw in the towel and sacrifice new features (introduced through firmware updates) for the convenience of already exploited firmware?
