Has Apple patented motion-detection technology that can be used for video gaming on tablet PC
devices? Maybe. The Apple fanboys over at Macsimum News are reporting
that the US Patent & Trademarks office unveiled a patent filed by an un-named company that Macsimum writer
"Neo" believes is Apple. The patent describes a variety of uses for accelerometer technology in a portable
device, including the following:
"In a gaming application, where the accelerometer may be used to detect a scene change during a video game running within a portable device."
The site goes on to wish for an Apple-Nintendo gaming alliance, and to proclaim, "As a wireless tablet, this is going to be one wild ride! Buzzzzzzzz! If you’re a gaming enthusiast, you have to be buzzed about this patent news!"
Whatever they're buzzing on over there, we want some of it.
[Thanks, Vikas]
