If I were Microsoft I would be promoting the hell out of the quirky/innovative games on Xbox Live Arcade. That service seems perfect for the Japanese market.

I would work out an exclusive deal with Japanese developers to put some of their old 16-bit properties on XBLA. Some old school RPGs from the likes of Square Enix, Konami, and SEGA just might interest Japanese gamers.

If that doesn't work, I just hope Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon can draw in the Japanese FF devotees.

I really want to see some Japanese games on Xbox this time around. I like Team Ninja as much as the next guy, probably more, but I'd love to see some more content from the likes of Konami, SEGA, and Capcom.

I can't wait for Lost Planet.

Though, you guys forgot Sonic the Hedgehog...(which may not be a bad thing considering how good Shadow looked, and then plop.)

I'm sure it's important from a business standpoint but as a gamer I could care less about Japan. I don't remember the last good Japanese game I've played.

The 360 will get the japanese games. Not because of the japanese market, but because of the US and europe. Many japanese dev believe that the 360 will lose handily in Japan but lead in the us and europe. Because of the increase in dev cost they realize that they cannot continue to only focus on the japanese market. Sony rose to prominance in the last generation, while japanese developers faltered. The largest and most successful software companies are now american and european (EA, ubisoft, etc). Also the arcade board for HOD and VF5 is similar to the the 360. This ease of port and the fact that the arcade does not play the importance in the US and europe that it plays in japan might bring those 2 titles to the 360. The japanese dev are using the 360 to expand it's consumer base, and MS is using Japanese dev to expand it's japanese install base.

You say you dont remeber the last good japanese game you played. What about practically all the 1st party Nintendo games? I highly doubt that if youve played a game such as Zelda Ocarina of Time youd hate it. Games arent all about blood and gore.

I seriously doubt many casual gamers are going to go for the $60 per game price tag. $50 Controllers... $400 systems... MS and Sony may end up pricing themselves out of the casual gaming market.

Last time I checked, Virtua Fighter 5 wouldn,t work on 360, because the Lindbergh arcade board is BASED on nVidia's technology.

You know nVidia right? The developers of the PS3's RSX chip?

If Microsoft can't get the old ATI carded, Xbox's games to run on 360, then how the hell are they going to put Lindbergh arcade ports on it?

If any of you know, feel free to correct me.

Well, at least they are trying and present if Japan.

Now they just have to do a 'When in Rome...' and convince Japanese developers to develope a significant number of games for it.

The reason pr0cs hasn't played any japanese games is because he only plays xbox. He is a hardcore xboxxer from the word go. Just say something bad about the 360 and watch him go pop!

Just to clarify since the article doesn't explictly say it. The 360 version of FFXI will be the first time it will be released for a CONSOLE in Europe. It has been available for quite some time for Windows PCs.

Aceman is right, Sega's lindbergh board is more similar to the ps3 than it is to the 360, thanks to its geforce 7 variant gpu. the board's cpu is a plain Pentium 4, though.

also, VF5 has been confirmed for ps3 :( the other lindbergh arcade games may follow, too. oh well, we have to get a ps3 sometime, eh?
