if it is MMO, then will it run on dedicated servers to back it up?

if so, then halo's matchmaking could be ran on dedicated servers right? then, the rampant cheating can be close to eliminated, right?

Halo 3 is coming out alongside the movie in 2007, enough said. Expect Halo 3 to make the big appereance in E3 2006 (but it probably wont be the biggest event, Nintendo Revolution, Hello!) probably a teaser or trailer, but something to wet the appitite (God knows we halo fanboys need something ;_;) and then, E3 2007, full on Halo 3 goodness, launch dates, demostrations etc. The week Halo 3 and Halo The Movie debut ... omg ... *takes up yoga to learn patience* ._.

Halo 3 being an MMO is just about as likely as it being ready for the green light. Firstly, there would be so many pissed fans (especially me, MMO's are so lame). Secondly, Bungie and Microsoft are not about to take a chance with their most prized franchise.

MMOFPS. I'm dying for these. Planetside ruled, but this is going to (hopefully) be even better.

I drooled at the thought of Huxley... I wet myself at the thought of Halo Online. MMOFPS is exactly what LIVE needs. I hope this is true, it would definitely be the next gen Halo fans would be craving and would be a pleasant surprise. It would also probably tie in quite nicely with the movie release which would act as "free" publicity. I think m3mnoch connected a lot of the dots, let's hope they were in the right order...

Why all this hype for something thats going to be mediocre? If Bungie come up with a game as good and original as Halo 1 without the crappy 'split characters', horrible HORRIBLE ending and terrible weapons as Halo 2 I'm sure it will be a hit. But please. the hype! it burns!

I think some of you are confusing hype with anticipation.

I dunno... I'd find it very hard to pull off for Bungie. The story has to be wrapped up with Halo 3, and the only way for that to happen would be with everyone as a human, otherwise you're joining a doomed faction. As a result, there'd be no PvP, something that is necessary. Furthermore, what crafting could there be...?

It's a rich world, but it's definitely NOT MMO material like something such as the Warcraft universe.

I don't love FPS, but this game could rock if it is indeed an MMOFPS. Do you think it would be possible to battle against EVERYONE at the same time? I don't know how would that be implemented.

If they make Halo 3 an MMOFPS, I'll almost be tempted to buy an Xbox 360. Too bad I don't have the money to get it and the Revolution (and I'm definitely getting the Revolution).

I head Halo 3 is going to be entirely cel-shaded, like your example box art.

I can easily see Halo as a really good MMOFPS, imagine an ongoing war between the Covenent and the Humans. You can log in at anytime choosing whichever side you want, build your character up in ways I cant even guess, strategize attacks, set-up fleets, etc. Something like that would be SIIIIICKK! This has alot of potential.

Personally, the only games I ever played on the Xbox for an extended period of time were Halo and Halo 2 (still playing the latter on Live). And quite frankly, Microsoft doesn't have a whole lot going for it exclusive content-wise besides this wonderful little franchise. All the launch titles for 360 were total crap with the exception of Call of Duty 2, but that wasn't exclusive. Halo is to Xbox what Mario and friends have been to Nintendo for a generation - people often buy the console only to play that series or franchise. While I will be first in line to buy both a Revolution and PS3, I won't even bother buying a 360 until Halo 3 comes out, unless something comes along first which wows me into buying a 360 before hand.

The Xbox 360 and Xbox Live would be great for a MMOFPS, but I think Halo 3 should focus on the single player part as well. Halo 2 single player was a disappointment, although the multiplayer was/is great.

"Halo 3 will pwnd! Killzone for the PS3 just like it did with the first Killzone."

Of course it will!!!! The only reason killzone was not as good as it could have been is that the publishers (sony) rushed the developers to get it out...... It was guerilla's 1st attempt at a 1st person shooter I believe..... And it turned out good instead of great...the graphics for the PS2 were quite impressive too..apart from some pop up & the frame rate the game was good..... If they had of fixed these problems & added better level layouts the game would have been up there with halo......
Heres to hoping that killzone 2 is a killer app, as it has all the basic elements, but just lacks that extra care & polish to make it aaa.

Who cares about halo or killzone anyway, they are old hype..... I want Unreal 2007 & I-8, which are both supposed launch titles for the PS3......
