Every so often, someone with an
agenda and a keyboard writes about the blessing or the curse that is video games - rarely does someone read a
down-to-earth talk on this interactive medium we at Joystiq love so much. Leave it to NetJak, then, to fabricate an
open and honest discussion on video games. In this editorial by Caley "Ridiculous Foilist" Anderson,
"Objection" makes a critical statement of the industry, and "Response" assesses the validity -
explaining each point, conceding to some unfortunate truths, defending the industry when necessary. What sets this critique apart from, say, the thousand other editorials we read on the industry, is the level of detail and thought-out arguments. Major kudos should go to Anderson for this piece, and the only thing we see that could make it better would be some cited sources. Anderson does not talk like he has a call to arms for either side of the gaming controversy; moreso, his agenda seems to be just setting the record straight on a lot of misconceptions on games and their relation to art, violence, and society. Definitely worth a read.
